There has been a lot of speculation and concern over the commitment of Ron Roberts to St. John’s after the dismissal of Norm Roberts as head coach.
Steve Lavin might be the busiest coach in the country who isn’t playing games right now. He needs to assemble a coaching staff (check back tomorrow for a detailed report on this process), he needs to meet and learn about his current team, and what else am I forgetting? Oh yea call his lone
Earlier today Adam Zagoria tweeted that Steve Lavin is supposed to meet with signed forward Ron Roberts sometime this week. However Roberts told JohnnyJungle.com today, “I have not been able to speak with Coach Lavin yet.” This doesn’t mean that there isn’t intentions on Lavin’s end to meet and speak with Roberts but as of yet there hasn’t been any communication.
Roberts doesn’t seem to be too worried though. He’s keeping busy with school and basketball. After winning the NJ State dunk contest two weeks ago he took some notes watching the NCAA slam dunk contest this past Thursday letting JohnnyJungle.com know which slams he wants to try next.
“Gerard Anderson’s dunk when he tapped the side of the backboard with his left hand and windmilled it with his right hand.”

Roberts will also be playing in the IS8 this spring. If you’re in the Queens area stop by the gym on the weekends and give him some St. John’s support. You’ll find some of the best basketball talents in the tri-state area at IS8 and it gets better as admission is free.
