ummm ive heard a lil about him. i know they was impressed with him and lavin isnt the type to just give away a scholi. they said he is a big body and athletic. he probably is a late bloomer.

I have such faith in Lavin that I have no doubt that this kid is a player. Every recruit we have gotten before him was a stud and we still have a few studs in 2011 and 2012 that are interested so Lavin wouldn't sign this kid unless he knew he could be a good Big East player. This staff isn't wasting any scholarships so look for this kid to keep getting better.

he adds depth we arent gonna get ever superstar and also he could be a sleeper im sure lavin will have a plan for him and everyone he recruited and is recruiting

During a stretch of time in the middle of October, into November, 2010, it seemed news broke nearly every week, announcing another top recruit was headed to Queens, New York to play for Coach Steve Lavin and what some have dubbed the “reborn” St. John’s Red Storm. By the end of the early signing period, eight players had signed their names on the dotted line, including six ESPN Top 100 recruits and a highly-regarded Junior College guard. There was, though, one name, the elusive eighth, with which few were familiar, that of Quality Education Academy’s (N.C.) Dwight Meikle.

hmm interesting... Makes sense with Lavin recruiting Gathers and Anderson so hard for next year.  Hopefully we land GG to give us more depth in the frontline

Purely basketball related. He wasn't going to see the floor. I've talked to well known and respected scout down south and he said eventually he's going to be a very good player but I don't think he was ever going to get a chance to be one here.

It's all for the better for both parties.

I think it was a good thing for us scholarship-wise.  It gives us more options to add to both this year's class as well as 2012.  Sub Meikle for 6'9" God's Gift who would enter as a junior and our class would look even stronger than now.  Allows us to still recruit Traylor or gives us options with Gathers/Anderson and makes those scenarios more realistic.  I wish Meikle good luck moving forward, but using his ship on God's Gift makes much, much more sense than on Meikle.
