Jevon is at the Summer Jam in Wisconsin.  See scout update below.  Notice the Lincoln HS error:

*St. John’s commit Jevon Thomas is a quick lead guard that can get into the lane. Thomas, a standout at Brooklyn (N.Y.) Lincoln, has had a strong July and is making good decisions with the basketball.

Is it error or is it a sign of the future?

Both. It's an error on his part if it's a sign of the future.

It's an error.  He'd be ineligible to compete in New York State if he did not physically move, as he began at Thomas Jefferson as a freshman and then moved on to OSNA.

Even if he hadn't played at Thomas Jefferson, even Tiny wouldn't be able to pull off getting a Queens kid to transfer to Lincoln.

Brian Snow (Rivals) clowning Thomas, per Twitter.

I would like to congratulate Jevon Thomas on setting a world record for most AAU teams played on in 1 summer from 1 city.. With Gauchos now

Yep - you all were on to this a while ago.  You think anybody was in Jevon's head about the possible loss of PT with Kyle at PG?

Well I remember he said on twitter a while back that if we recruited another guard, he would decommit.

Hopefully Jevon knows something about Kyle's plans that we don't.

I thought this would happen as well.  Hopefully he finds a place where competition won't limit his plans. Good luck to him.  On the other hand, another scholarship open!

LOL  Same thing I was thinking.  I guess with the recruitment of Anderson and our heightened interest in Rysheed Jordan (2013 recruit) then he must've envisioned his time being chopped.

Maybe, he re-commits at some point.  Honestly, I don't think he will if Anderson comes aboard.

I don't want him to go to a local rival because I thinks he's good.  That said, I want kids here who want to compete, not be afraid of competition.  Here's a quote which is actuall from John calipari in reference to playing with the best talent in an article where he addressed 5 myths of recruiting.  I believe Lavin's approach and selling points are similar philosophically:

"The reality is you want to learn to play with the best players because at every level from here on out, that is what you will be doing. What I have found is that the teams that are a compilation of the best players – and the ones where everyone becomes their brothers’ keepers – are the ones which have the most success both together and individually. That was proven two seasons ago when we became the first program ever to have five first round NBA draft picks. Again this past season, our Final Four team had four players drafted and with those nine NBA Draft picks we were one of the most efficient teams in the country in both offense and defense."

I dont't think he'll be back and in addition, I don't think Lavin will hold that scholarship while he decides.  Evan Daniels said it was a "mutual parting of ways" which is what I certainly believe.  The writing has been on the wall for a while, and if it helps us get Kyle Andson, then even better for both Jevon and SJU.

You know what, I love competitors and he's right even if a bit harsh.  He's a kid though.  We need more guys like Sir'Dom, Amir and guys who want to be out there to win.  Guys that aren't worried about guys afraid of being non-factors.  I hope Jevon finds the situation he's looking for where he's the big fish.
