WHERE ARE YOU..?
People that are objective on their thoughts on the team & players, the current state of the program and thoughts on the coaching staff get called.. "HATERS". . "BAITERS".. "CLOWNS". . "PHOENYS" or "INSTIGATORS"...
But when we lose to a very "average" Niagra team because Norm got out coached, yet again, you guys are "SILENT"..!!!

We're all here, everyone is posting and if you read any of the pre and post game articles you would see that people have been critical of the coach which is something people try and discredit johnny jungle for but we still support the coach. We are only 6 games into the season and we are finally getting what is close to a fully healthy roster heading into Hawaii. No need to be so rash quite yet.
I know this thread has been started to call out or embarrass your arch nemesis Old Red who hasn't been on the boards. He is a passionate fanatic and if he needs a few days to cool down before he comes back on here I'm all for it. Threads like this cause unnecessary problems.

But. . why do you take up the mantle of defending Old Red.. he is more then capable of defending himself if he thought this post was directed at him... Old Red is very quick to get all over someone but when the shoe might be on the other foot he disappears... he did it after Miami game too...

Look, you've already stated that you're basically forced to support Norm because one of "your guys" plays for him (whatever that means). Nevertheless, that constitutes an agenda on your part.
As for me, Im just a guy that went to St. John's, and have always looked at the team impartially. I enjoy watching some of the players Norm has assembled (Mason, Wright, Burrell, Kennedy), am willing to give others more time (Horne, Boothe, Coker), and can't believe that some are even on this team (Evans, Cavataio, TJ).
We have some talent here, but one thing reigns supreme over it all. Norm is a terrible, terrible basketball coach, and its my strong belief that this program will never get back to consistently contending for an NCAA berth until he is gone. The only consistency in Norm Roberts' teams have been embarassing losses to mid-majors and obscene blowouts to above average teams. I dont want that to happen anymore, and if that makes me a "fake ass" fan, then there is no reasoning with you in the first place.

you bashed STJ for losing to Miami, which is now a top 25 team, and now 9-0...now you are claiming they lost to an average Niagra team, the same team that went to the ncaa tourney last season, the same team with the nations leading scorer....also a very veteran club....we also lost to them in a close game, without our best two players, and if you dont think Rob Thomas is our second best player, you have not seen him play....atleast you are consistant..

I'm one. My dream school lost to a school that sent me more mail on the D1 ranks than any other school at that level. I'm still a fan though and I hope we pick it up in Hawaii.
I'm a pissed off Norm supporter as of now.

i hope norm does well. and i've been patient. but it looks like it's time for him to go. terrible recruiting job this year..just DREADFUL. and losing to niagara shows not much as changed. even w/out mason we should have beaten them fairly easily..

I will play devil's advocate here. Norm plans on Q being here invests his eggs into the Sylven sweepstakes assuming we have only 1 scholarship available. Q leaves we have 2 scholarships and we went after everyone hard but perhaps too late to be considered seriously.
Norm has had success recruiting in the spring maybe because his hand has been forced this way with the prior sanctions that were handed down on the team. Has recruiting been dreadful so far this year, yea but I'm not sure it's fair to write this year off as failure. It is also an option that we could hold out and use those 1-2 scholarships in '09. I think this team could benefit from two JUCO players at PG and C.
Now I'm not saying I agree with everything stated above as I'm playing devil's advocate but one can argue both ways.

Niagra is VERY average... they have already lost to Liberty who is 5 - 5 and Towson who is 4 - 5... just because they made the NCAA Tournament last year doesn't mean a thing for this year... this is team that lost 3 senior starters from last year and was picked to finish 3rd in their conference by their fellow coaches.. (**before you say it again. . i know.. the pre-season polls mean nothing...**)
At the beginning of the year I thought St. John's would beat Miami... I sure was wrong on that one.. they could be 15 - 0.. there is still no way the team should have ever gotten blown out in the 2nd half of that game... and lets see if Miami finishes the year anywhere near the Top 25...
Rob Thomas IS NOT the 2nd best player on this team.. if he hadn't gotten hurt he might have been but coming off a brutal knee injury he is not... if anyone thinks he is going to given this team anything more then a moral boost they are not realistic...
And you know. . I have been very consistent since I started posting on JJ and BEB... I have said the same thing over and over and over... NORM ROBERTS is not a good coach and is in completely over his head at hte Big East level... (as a former St. John's players said to me about Norm.. "some guys were meant to be assistants") but 1/2 the time I say I am called an instigator. . a phoney... a clown... and my favorite one. . "a hater"...
And for you, of all people, to say anything about being consistent is a joke... you flip flop more then anyone. Since I have posted on the boards you have been an AVID supporter of Norm Roberts... one awful loss to Niagra and you meant off on him over on BEB (which you were 100% right about in your assesment)... and you did the same thing last year after Maryland game... you are certainly entitled to your opinion and to change that opinion whenever you feel like it but at least my opinion of the sitaution isn't shifting like a fart in the wind....

If you read my post on the other board, i did not call for Norm to be fired...If you read all my posts, i have never said he was a good game coach...I have supported him, and will continue to do so for the season..you give a partial assesment on Niagra, of those graduated seniors, how many ppg did they lose?? not much, as their top 3 scorers are back..Miami also plays in the toughest conference in america this season..RT is the second best player on this team.and when you say devastating injury, you are correct, otherwise he would be head and shoulders above the rest.i dont expect much from him til the spring..you get 10 minutes from him off the bench, and there is no need for Evans to be in the game crunch time...we win the Niagra game..He may of hurt his knee, but it certainly has not affected his shooting, and foul shooting abilities..but you keep on hating..i may join you at the end of the season if things do not get better.

i agree. offering sean evans was a bad move IMO. the staff wouldve been able to spread out the 'ships for 08 a little bit more and likely wouldve wound up with truck bryant. bryant (a pg) wouldve been a more valuable commodity over 4 years than sean evans will likely be.

Hey, I'm not going to tell you what to think. You can live out your existence thinking Norm Roberts, who has proved he can win the NEC with a Big East team and nothing else, is the right man for the job. More power to you. Me on the other hand, will just not accept that bologna.
Niagra is a MAC team. We are a Big East team. It should be a win. It in the past had always been a win. Stop making excuses. Ditto with Ohio. Hell, same with Marist, we've lost to them with Norm as the coach. Can anyone tell me with a straight face that that is a slam dunk win? That's how sad the program has become. And the sooner everyone realizes that the future doesn't look any better with the upcoming recruiting class of...nothing, the better.

This teams only immediate need is a pg...that is it...we have two centers, one with some promise, and we are loaded with guys playing the 2-4....you also get a healthy Rob Thomas next season....that in itself is big...but i agree we need a pg...and if you .look at Fran, and Louie careers, they lost to some cupcakes as well...so has Pitino..

In 1964, the Daily News had the Early Edition hit the news stands around 8 :30 pm. Every night I paid 15 cents to read about the recap of the Mets game, that was played that afternoon. The Mets went on to lose 120 games that year (I guess a Psychologist could have a field day with this).A few years later, I started going to see the Redmen @ Alumni hall, with Johnny Warren, DePre & company. I've been with them both through good & bad. I'm a Redmen fan, the only time I was embarrassed to claim that I was a Johnny fan, was in the Jarvis era. Today we're ranked #149 from approx 340 Div 1 schools. We went out to Hawaii and played teams that are ranked around us. Tulane #139, Hawaii 295, Ohio U 65. Two weeks ago we losed to Niagara 133. Next week we play for some Local headlines Marist 102. We belong at 149. This past week I realized my outside hope for the NIT & 18 wins wiil not happen. I'm not thinking beyond the Holiday Fes at the Garden. I think the game vs Marist will be a good one, they match up well against us. One game at a time....Go REDMEN.
