If we want to smell a farts wind of ncaas, this game is a must win. I predict a SJU blowout. We win by 13 with the highest lead 20.
-
Agree, an absolute must win. I think we do.
-
Uconn 72
SJ 59
Napier scores 35.
-
I don't wanna call it a must-win because a win against Cuse or Louisville, as unlikely as they may be, would put us right back on track. But yes it is a very important game.
St. John's 73
Uconn 72

St. John's 75
Uconn- 70
Harrison scores 36
-
76-72 us. Jakarr leads us in scoring.
-
I hate uconn. We kill them. Win by 15 plus
-
I hope you are right but I think it will be a close one. Watch olander or some obscure player will score a lot like lubick
-
Johnnies by a deuce, game in 60s.
-
Uconn 72
SJ 59
Napier scores 35.
No way. As soon as haloed hits his 3 rd 3. He will be stuck my sir com with the ball swatted right back in his face....
-
73- 68 good guys.
Marco with three 3's
-
This is a big game for both teams. It should be a hard fought game. SJU is coming off a real taste of the BE. Georgetown fouled with intent and it worked. I think the Johnnies will learn from that experience. Plus they are due to shoot above average returning home.
On the Uconn side this is their BE tournament game at MSG.
69-67 St Johnnies with Napier missing a wide open 3 as time expires.

I'd love to be dead wrong, but we need more than Dom to stop their guards. Everyone has to defend.
-
Uconn Is the only team in the Big East that rebounds a bit worse than we do. We win this one by defending their guards well.
-
Empire State Building 66
Stamord Towers 65

This is as close as you can get to a must win game without it actually being a must win game. Or something like that

Agree as next 2 will be next to impossible for us to win and we don't want a 4 game losing streak and under .500 in BE.
-
This is a winnable game. While overall they have an edge in back court play with Dlo's inconsistency as of late, Sir Dom has a big all around game and the Johnnies win a close one.
-
Win a close one
St Johns 67 UCONN 63

UCONN 72

Greene 5-17 13 points, 3 circles 2 asst 1 to

Always hate to say must win, but is a big game.

Always hate to say must win, but is a big game.
Its the biggest game of the year so far. Then need to find a way to win one against Ville or SYR

This is the biggest game by far.
I will chalk those up as losses. If they were home I'd say we need to find a way to snag one. Just don't get embarrassed there.
-
I feel beating UConn, USF, Marquette or Pitt and Providence (away) is difficult, but attainable. 10 BE wins good for this team, 9 ok. Beating UConn crucial, however. Hold serve at home for most part and get one more road win.

With any hope of an NCAA (and we should have hope as it is well within reach) got to at a minimum win vs UCONN Pitt So Fla Marquette and Providence. Losing to Louisville Syracuse and at Notre Dame would be OK. Lose against Pitt or Marquette means you got to sweep ND.

With Branch was a long shot
W/O Branch not really realistic.

Totally agree with you.
-
From my personal perspective, I've kinda had the NCAA tourney as a pipe dream anyway. I know anything is possible, but I haven't seen the consistency from this team to warrant the run necessary to make it happen.
Uconn's 3 guards will be tough for us..
Who would you have Dom guard? I'm thinking Dom on Boatwright, Phil on Calhoun, and Harrison on Napier.. thoughts? Or do we just zone them? Calhoun can burn I think, especially if we are lazy with rotations like we tend to be.
-
Their best player is Napier. That is who your best defender guards.
-
Who ever Dom guards he has to avoid the cheap fouls 30 feet from the basket. It's tough because you don't want him to stop being aggressive either.
Reason I put Dom on Boatwright is because there is no way in hell Harrison can stay in front of him. Will be interesting to see what Lav comes up with. Probably test the zone, but if they start stroking it, need to change it up.
-
Just looked at Uconn's lineup. There are only 7 guys whose name sounds familiar---and one, Phillip Nolan, is only because he was a blip on our recruiting radar. Unless their 3 guards are unstoppable, this is a game we should win.
-
I too agree that Yukon is a must win for any tourney possibilities. This team can finish its last eight games with a record of 1-7 (with a win over SF) or 4 and 4 at best as I believe that beating the Cuse ,Louisville, Marquette and ND on the road will be very unrealistic. We have a slim chance with Pitt, and Providence while beatable is no slouch. I think that wining three of our final 8 will make for an acceptable BE record of 9-9. Anything less with already having 6 wins under our belts would be disappointing.

We will attack attack attack. Clog the paint, elbow on screens, step on toes, swat jumpers, treat them like little bitches, and totally humiliate uconn and their fans Tomm night.
-
the lenn robbins article this morning stated that only 8000 tickets have been sold? that is sad. i will be there tonight but hopefully tonight's crowd will be more st. john's than uconn
-
Double digit loss. "Linda" with triple digit posts after the game.

I bet it will be much more than that by game time. Not expecting a massive crowd by any means but 11-12k I'd think we can draw here. Robbins said that at the beginning of the week 8k were sold. Don't know if he means Sunday or Monday, but I have no doubt there will be plenty of uconn fans and SJU fans buying tickets since then. Crowd will be fine methinks, even if it's not 18k.
-
People like myself and a few buddies are waiting until later this afternoon to grab tickets online (trying to round up as many guys as I can before actually purchasing the tickets).
-
Not sure if we win or lose, I think the injury to Branch really makes this game a toss-up.
But I can make the following BOLD predictions...
- Greene takes 15+ shots
- Harrison makes a FG
- Jakarr takes 5+ forced jump shots
- Obekpa misses at least 2 free throws
- Marco stands in a corner for at least 15 seconds
- Amir misses a layup
- Dom fouls someone 50 feet from the basket
- Felix and CJ play no more than 2 minutes at a time
- Someone on this board begs for Gift to remove the "redshirt"
- Someone on this board asks if Orlando is eligible yet
- Someone on this board will ask where Jim Calhoun is
- Someone on this board will ask if Omar Calhoun is related to Jim
- Someone on this board will bring up the fact that we didn't land Omar Calhoun
- Some goon like Niels Giffey will have a career day
- There will be at least 5 "U!-C!-O!-N!-N! UCONN, UCONN, UCONN!" chants from the Yukon faithful
- St. John's fans will remind said Yukon fans that "at least our team can play in the BET"
Despite all these things happening, I say we pull it out in the end with D'Angelo leading the way.

Do I have to chug a shot every time one of these happens?
-
Programs like Uconn not only destroyed us during our darkest times but they have benefitted significantly from our poor basketball efforts over a long period.
This is a hugely important game. It's a rivalry game like no other IMO.
They are down now. We just kick them harder than ever before.

Love it!
We are SJU will wonder why you didn't indicate how many times Phil Greene runs in a circle?
I see Phil and Dee having big games tonight at least on offense.
The key I think though is whether Garrett, Dom, and Jakarr can put some points on the board.

I predict posters will complain regardless of the outcome of the game.
In a win- Crowd sucks, fans suck, students suck, we won despite lavin, who cares, Lew Alcindor picked Cincy over us
In a loss- Lavin sucks, positive posters suck, Phil Greene dribbles in circles and made me dizzy, Harrison has awful body language, Where is Gift?, Where is Sanchez, why do I pay full price for tickets when I can get 2-1 deal...

5-17 shooting 13 points 2 asst 1 to and 4 circles-Carmine will be ecstatic with that line and some others will claim he played well and even get some votes as player of the game

Those damn 2-1 tickets. Doesn't look like it worked with only 8000 sold :)

It should work. Great opportunity. I wish my wife wasn't away on business, or I'd be all over it. I predict 12k...
Really would like a victory tonight. Their guards scare me though. I can picture wide open 3 pointers left and right. Hope our defense comes to play and Dom avoids the ticky-tack fouls.

Harrison makes his first 10 shots. Problem is they are in warmups.
