The disappointing thing in all these losses is lack of intensity, adjustments, and lineups/decisions down stretch.

There are offensive/defensive sub opportunities, can switch up defense, run something for your playmakers to get shots. I think this is where the lack of experience on coaching staff really hurts. I think the bench coaches St. Jean and Richmond are terrific basketball minds but it's hard to tap this/that when you haven't been through it on the pine. Like Mike Tyson said everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face.

An experienced coach is better equipped to handle a lead/deficit, knows when to switch up a defense, how to handle a slumping player, and has a play for a number of different scenarios a game can throw at you.

To me the staff is flat out failing Ahmed. Obviously his strength is driving to the basket and finishing at the rim. I can't remember one set they have run this season to make it easier on him to get into the lane with a chance to score. Every time he has taken it to the hole has been just from catching the ball on the wing and just streetballing his way into the lane which has resulted in numerous travels, charges, turnovers and blocked/altered shots. Give me some curls, pindowns, anything to make it easier on the kid to play to his strength

People melting down here coming off a total rebuild and a zero-win big east team yet teams like Uconn and Syracuse not doing much better at all and these are teams that were pre-season top 25 or cusp...  We still have to add pieces.  We have Lovett out and just lost Sima.  Sima might not have been a game breaker but he was big and was depth this season, with shotblocking ability.

We simply aren't a compete team yet.  We have some excellent freshmen guards and a very nice JUCO forward, but to blame everything on horrible coaching is a stretch to me.  As far as coaching goes, we definitely should be better defensively.  We are awful there and it is our main problem.  Our offense is light years ahead of what we have had on offense for decades.  Our interior play is nonexistent.   Thst won't change without a talent upgrade,  these guards will still be here but we need PF/C types that can score snd defend.

Agree with MCNPA.  This team is not that talented when Lovett isn't on the court.
When he is, we have an exciting backcourt.

Otherwise though we have a bunch of just another guys out there.  Yakwe wasn't as good as we thought he was last year.  In retrospect many of his stats were a product of disproportionate playing time.

Our PF and C positions truly are a weakness.  And SF is only average when we have Ahmed in there.

I understand what you're saying but to compare this to Uconn and SU is a joke.  Those teams have gotten results this century.  Also weak to start blaming it on losing Sima who was pretty bad.  Lovett is another thing but still pathetic you can't beat LIU

We've also seen comparisons to Villanova here. Meanwhile here we are, losing to some pretty bad low mid majors

Agreed and that can be fixed.  I'm not mad but a disappointed.

All I want to hear from Coach is that this is on him, he knows it and he will fix it.  He's not going anywhere so it is useless to discuss nonsense like that.

From Baldi's favorite assistant coach via his Twitter..

"Social media is a hell of a platform. Has given everyone the ability to act tough without ever having to be tough. Blame us not the kids"

Don't worry Matt, we are.  Lol

Kidding me or what? Get off Twitter and start trying to teach the kids the game

Never too early, if you're a St John's fan

I was at the game.  The only energy at Barclays was during the first 18 minutes of Hofstra/Kentucky.

During the first game, the crowd was dead...the team was dead...the coaches were dead.  LIU played the game like it mattered.  We didn't.  It's not about who was there and who wasn't.  If Ponds had hit that last shot...it would still have been a shitty effort all around.

As an Uber driver said...St John's is just another ordinary NYC college team.

I thought Ponds looked a little tired yesterday--he has been playing too many minutes in Lovett's absence.

That being said Lovett and Amar being out hurt--Amar for his bulk as opposed to everyone else being backed down on the blocks and Marcus for obvious reasons.
