well yes dave, but omari has never been average...if hes saying the kid is playing average now then hes still wrong...hes coming off injury, over his previous weight, and still threw up 25 in the jordan game...hes a 4 year player but he's a damn good 4 year player...hes gonna be on a team with a hell of a lot of sg's next year so idk how much he'll contribute, but the kids above average...solid 4 star recruit, definite top 60 player

I don't think we have a lot of SG's. Maybe you're used to not having anything in recent history but our guys last season were in the tops of the league in MPG. They need some rest and less might be more in terms of efficiency due to lack of fatigue. I think there are plenty of minutes to go around especially if we play as uptempo as I'd like us to.

Senior: Anthony Mason Jr.
Juniors: DJ Kennedy and Paris Horne
Sophomores: Quincy Roberts
Freshmen: Omari Lawrence, Dwight Hardy, and possibly Lance Stephenson

Dave, that's 7 players who all play the SG/SF position.  Granted, if Lance ends up coming here next year, he may wind up playing PG.  But that's still an awful lot of players who play the same position.  And I'm sure that the veterans (Mason Jr., Kennedy, and Horne) aren't gonna be too happy about reducing their minutes too much.  Either way, Norm is gonna have a very tough job next year finding minutes for everyone.

exactly...and we have coker, burrell and evans up front...overloaded in backcourt, thin in frontcourt

I doubt Dele Coker will be a factor, as he has shown no signs of improvement on either end of the floor.  But don't forget about Rob Thomas, who became a factor at the end of last season.  So basically, we're down to Justin Burrell, Sean Evans, and Thomas.  They are gonna have some major issues with the lack of depth in the front court.

They have issues if someone gets injured, for sure.  But the same issues that have been there the past two years!!!  Would be nice to have another tall player to take fouls.  Or a 6'8" walk-on.

This team had better try to run at every opportunity.  And Coker is going to get a decent amount of minutes - he blocked shots.

I actually forgot about Dwight Hardy. However I still think minutes can be had. I don't think we're as thin up front as people make us out to be. Granted I'd like to have one less guard and one more big but oh well.

I also consider AMJ a SF as well as DJ.

True SG on the team are Omari, Dwight, Quincy, Paris

Assuming Lance comes in I think he'll play more on the ball but thats purely my own speculation.

I think at times you see us, not necessarily go small, but vary the heights at positions.  What I mean is, we might have Lance at PG - who is 6'5 and taller than many PGS - and Mason at PF - who is 6'7 and as tall but not as strong as many PFS.  With DJ at SF as a very strong rebounder, this lineup I feel will work well.  If we go more traditional with Boothe at PG and Burrell and Evans at PF and C, then you prob see Lance at the 2/3 with one of either DJ, Paris, Hardy, Omari.

I think Dave is right - we let Lance play on the ball a lot (assuming we get him) and have Hardy/Omari/Paris splitting mins at the 2, DJ/Mase/maybe even Omari/Hardy splitting mins at the 3, Mase/Burrell splitting at 4, and Burrell/Evans at 5.

I'd envision, assuming Omari and Hardy aren't total studs from the sec they get here, and Paris + DJ improve at a normal rate something like:

Lance - 32 mins
Boothe - 15 mins
Paris - 20 mins
Omari - 15 mins
Hardy - 15 mins
DJ - 22 mins
RT - 15 mins
Mase - 22 mins
Burrell - 22 mins
Evans - 22 mins

That works out to 200 for the game -- and keeps everyone happy probably - obviously you vary it if Omari or Hardy deserve time over DJ/Mase/Paris, if Burrell turns into the beast he could be, etc.

Will it take VERY careful attention by the coaching staff which they very well may not be able to do? Yes.  Is it possible to do it successfully and keep everyone happy though? Also yes.

Kid - Rob Thomas is still on the team!  And is efficient inside.  I like how you're thinking, but you have to know that Rob will give 15-20 energy filled minutes per game.

edit: And Dele Coker will log around 5-10 minutes per game, being big and blocking shots.

I really see Hardy logging less than 15mpg unless he's on fire. I think he comes off the bench as instant offense and shoots mostly 3's. 9mpg with 3-4 shots per game shooting around 43% for 5-6ppg.

from what i hear hardy is supposed 2 b a lights out shooter with nba range...if so i would give him 15 cuz look what happen wit avery patterson...tha kid was a player n had a consistent jumper( wich this team could despretly use) so if hardy is anything like him we should utilize hime n get him as much burn as possible...

Hardy is a pure scorer I hope they don't mess him up. Can someone find his stats from high school to juco. It should be something crazy. The kid scores plain and simple. Him and Omari there is no reason for 40 point games or 15 point halves. None at all

you think those two will be able to handle tough defesnses?? especially hardy who is coming off weak JUCO competition...omari at least had some heavy competition at prep school.

Yeah I do. I've seen hardy in highschool and coached him in auu. A scorer is a scorer. He is gonna get 15.

He averaged 39 a game as a senior at JFK, and his juco is one of the most respected programs around. The competition definitely wasn't as easy as it would have been had he played at another juco.

My only concerns with Hardy are whether he will get enough PT, and whether Norm will actually design plays to free him up for shots. The next play Norm draws up will likely be his first.

Thanks ljsa. I hope norm understands what he has. It's a little of both random. He has the stregnth but he doesn't have the definition he had. He has a personal trainer for the summer. He has to get his explosiveness back. He looks good this year in cyp and is8. When school is over he gets to work out with the team. And get in more shape.

the thing is if u can shoot n put the ball in the basket u can do it its the same size hoop...he may jus not get the numbers he did in juco but if hes scorin these 40 pt games in juco he should b able 2 put up around 20

Other than Norm's strategy and quick hook, the biggest impediment to Hardy scoring the way he's capable of is the rapid development of Horne's game. Norm really has his work cut out for him juggling all the bodies at the 2 and 3 spots.

I have plenty of issues with Norm, and one of them is that he's way too conventional and rigid. With what I assume will be another crummy schedule, there is certainly going to be more than one situation where Lawrence, Horne, Hardy, Kennedy, and Burrell should be playing together and absolutely putting the boot to the opponent's throat. And Norm simply won't do it, either out of fear or lack of creativity.
