The most alarming thing to me is how DJ has disappeared. This kid won't shoot the ball.  pump fake, dribble twice, pass,....rinse and repeat for 40 minutes.  good grief.  Step the F up!

 Is it next year yet?

I'll continue to root for this team, but it is clear,  this is what they are.  A mediocre team that can beat an over rated G-town team on a given night, but can't hang with the big boys yet.   I don't get angry anymore.  I knew we were gonna get annihilated last night.

Dunlap and Keady are on the bench doing exactly what? Can someone explain please? How many open jumpshots did Cuse bang? Ya think 1 of the 12 assistant coaches would take notice

I'd rather have Dunlap sitting next to lavin and Keady on the end of the bench.  You pose a good question though.  Syracuse beating us badly is  pretty much par for the course.  Coaching, IMO, had nothing to do with last night.  They have much better talent, and more of it.  No big deal.

Laphonso Ellis , the color man on the broadcast,  sure had  different  comments than you....he had nothing but positive comments on JUSTIN.  Of course he is only an ex post player that was a big college  star and solid NBA player......certainly that would not stack up to your basketball resume.

xhoops, you and Ellis obviously know more than I do.

I take it all back. Burrell was great. Jackson was garbage.

First of all Syracuse is 18 points better than us. Even someone who idolized Set Shot Patterson could see that.

Too bad it wasn't January 21st, 2007.   Ahhghhh...I remember it like it was only yesterday.  Under two minutes remaining - Johnny ball with the Orange clinging to a one point lead.  Avery "3-point record holder" Patterson, with ice in his veins, hits the three at the 1:32 mark and is fouled by Devendorf.  Calmly makes the FT for yes a humongous "Trent Tucker" four point play and a slim Johnny lead.

But lo and beyold, this valiant warrior was not quite done yet.  Demetris Nichols misses a rushed three point attempt with 1:21 to go.
The Redmen corral the rebound and will certainly hold the ball and look to run clock, no?  One very confident recent Junior College transfer has another plan.  Patterson, the cold blooded assasin, comes down court - surveys the famed and feared Boeheim 2-3 zone and launches yet another long range bomb with 1:05 remaining - count it - Dagger!- to put the game out of reach for the first and last SJU win over the Cuse in ages.

Big players making big plays.  Something that was sadly absent from our side on Wednesday.

LOL

LaPhonso Ellis is a borderline-sucky commentator and he was just doing his job, per se'.  Another thing of note:  Just because someone played or excelled at a sport doesn't necessarily make 'em a good evaluator, xhoops.  I'm not saying Ellis is a poor or good evaluator.  Don't suddenly assume he's a good one just because he played and excelled at playing basketball.

As, far as Burrell is concerned....  Burrell should've had this staff during his freshmen or sophomore seasons.  Burrell is still a bit mechanical and he tends to have to gather himself before making his moves.  Sometimes, he loses a precious second or two gathering himself and it allows for the opposition to contest his shots.

He can occasionally get away with that while playing the Wagner's and Columbia's of the world.  He can even get away with while playing some of the lesser athletic big's in the Big East.  He's rarely or never gonna get away with it against the more athletic teams throughout the conference or nation.

He still has some rawness to his game and it shows every time out (whether he has a good game or not).  If, he ever gets a chance in the NBA....  He'll probably have to pay his dues abroad before doing so.  Again....  That is based on him ever getting a chance.  More than likely, he'll probably have a career overseas.

I think it is very easy to point fingers at the teams short comings over the past two games against the countries elite.  However with that being said, we have to look at the overall picture.  That being is the team team is 3-2 after 5 games.  More importantly this conference most certainly gets 7 teams in the NCAA tournament and with some of the other conferences being so down a 8th and maybe even a ninth can sneak in the tournament.  With that being said, we beat two teams (WVU and GTown) who are going to be lobbying for those spots with us.   Even a win at Providence is a good win because we beat a team who should be below us in the standings.  If we can continue to beat the teams that are in the middle with us, below us and beat a team at home like a ND it could propel to the 10 win mark.  You add 10 wins in the conference plus a winnable game against UCLA and we have 19 right there. This sets us up for a utmost important need win in our first B.E Tourny game.  A 10 win season in the conference will get us a first day bye and a matchup against a lower seed team the second day should set us up in our favor for that 20th win and get us in the tourny.

All the press has been great, but any die hard fan on here who watches this team night in and night out knows what this team is really made of and that is a bubble team.  But like I said above, looking at our team and the remainder of our B.E schedule I dont think getting to that 20 win mark is out of this world to say.

What is frustrating is that Seton Hall without Jeremy Hazell should have beaten Syracuse, and yet we got blown out by them. You can claim that Syracuse played down to Seton Hall, but we should of played up to Syracuse. As of right now we have to take it up another notch because that Georgetown win is not look as great as it use to because they are sliding in in the Big East. If we can Hang with Notre Dame tomorrow and beat them, that would be more of a statement win then the Georgetown gameand show that we can hang with the big boys.

I don't think it was a suprise that Syracuse won but more of a suprise that that St. John's got blown out. There was a buzz in the city and the media that this can be a great game and bring back the rivalry for New York. Everyone was hoping that the Notre Dame loss was just a one bad game instead of reality hitting the Johnnies in the face which Syracuse did four days later.
