Respect everyone, but there is no one to fear.

If you're looking ahead in the bracket, it's a solid situation.  Gotta get revenge on the Zags from last time, will never forget Casey Calvery, Matt Santangello (sp?), and Richie Frahm (sp?) taking it away from us.

BTW on short rest, we are a hard team to prepare for....

We were ranked #17 and had a logical split in the BE tourney.  Why are we a 6?  How is WV and Cincy seeded higher?  Why are we sent to Denver to play a team that lives at high altitude on what will spectator wise be a road game for us?

No favors here.

I'm wondering if they looked at a bad showing against Rutgers, in combination with the loss of DJ, in dropping us to a 6.  Travel out to Denver does seem like we are the lower seed.  We will have no fan support out there.  Guys have to play like the underdogs that knocked off so many highly ranked teams this year.

Loss of DJ had a negative effect on seeding however after the first round this bracket isn't undesirable

Cinci is garbage. They have no business even making it.

Because over the years St. John's has put up with this bs. NCAA has had  it in for SJU since the 1950's. In 1950s  SJU interest in the NIT. Following the 1951 scandal NCAA wanted college teams out of public arena SJU and NYU continued relationship with MSG. These thing set the ground work which has resulted in SJU being sent to Indiana to play ND to Chicago to play DePaul. To Purdue as a seated team after providing a warmup game for  the home team. A history of being sent as far away  from the East as possible. In the 1970s for 4 or 5 years it seemed like we were sent to Arizona every year.

Loss of DJ had a negative effect on seeding

I read in my paper today that DJ's loss cost us a seed or two.  Which is pure garbage.

Prez did not make the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or even honorable mention conference teams.  So losing such a "mediocre" player should have had no affect whatsoever on seeding, right?  Either he's an injured star player who is honored as such and we loose seeding or not.  I knew Kenyon Martin and Kennedy is no Kenyon Martin.

The selection commitee shouldn't be able to play both sides of the fence.  This is bull.

DJ's injury probably hurt the seeding.  While he was not a BE selection, he was one of the factors that make us a TEAM.  if he did not get injured, we would have been probably been a 5 given the loss to Cuse.  I think a 6 gives an easier road to a regional final as you do not have to go against a #1 until the regional finals.  We are in Denver because of the 3 seed in the southeast region--BYU; however, the southeast is really the easiest region so it is one that I would prefer us to be in.

Looking statistically at Gonzaga:
-7th effectively tallest team in D-I
-13th best FT shooting team (75.9%)
-263rd at defending the 3, but 8th best inside the arc
-22nd in the country in bench minutes
-slightly above-average in tempo (67.7 possessions a game)
-276th in experience
-In terms of efficiency, 26th best defensive team and the 49th best offensive team.

Gonzaga is a really tough matchup for us. If we find a way to get the W though, I can see us going to the Elite 8 and dare I say, Final 4
