This popped up on the other board.  This is scary, serious stuff.

And it seems that none of our guys were directly involved except to help the victim (who is likely named because he's in the police report), and the gunman is still at large.  So let's be respectful in discussing this, respect the players' privacy, and let the authorities sort it out.

Thought Astoria was a safe nabe.
Bad apples evrywhere I guess.

Prayers for the brother who got got. May he recover.
And prayers of praise than no one else got in the line. Glory.

They really are. Two kids were stabbed on the 1/9 a couple of weeks ago.

Meanwhile, cops are writing people tickets for jaywalking, holding the subway doors open and forgetting to add money to the parking meter.

And at the same time, not too far away some poor guy is getting shot, and probably killed.

hmm. whether they are involved or not this doesn't help the school's image.

Wrong place, wrong time. Can't really help that. Watch the 11 oclock news and this stuff happens everyday in NY.

I agree!  Although, this seems like the classic "wrong place, wrong time" scenario....  It still doesn't look too good.

I hope the victim will recover; the gunman caught and arrested and this can be forgotten about in due time.  Geez!

Maybe the bad apples were visiting

In the early 90s and even late 80s, there'd be fights in Astoria.  It's not some bucolic bubble or anything.

No gunfights.

I preferred Bayside and Eastern Queens to play my shabby game of pool.  Still some swagger there, though.

One of my friends got shot right down Union Turnpike blocks away from campus. I consider the area a very safe place however you never know with people. Bad people come into nice neighborhoods. It happens. Just glad everyone turned out ok.
