Both guys playing today. Playing against weak Euro competition, or Euro competition, same thing really. But playing is playing. These guys need to be on the court.

I saw the second half of Italy's game.  They lost. Mo0se didn't start the 2nd half but played most of it.  He had 14 points in the half.  Hit 4 threes.  Too many turnovers.  Looked slow on defense.  Didn't really see much if any change from 4 months ago.

Which is why he hopefully won't play much once the competition gets stiffer than Wagner.

Wow... Spain just hit a buzzer beating three to beat France. Sima finishes with 2 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block in 18 min. #sjubb

Lauri Markkanen with the go-ahead tip in to win it for Finland. Sima finishes with 16 pts. #sjubb
I believe SIma fwiw was 6/7 on FTs

Six of the top 16 NBA draft picks this year played in the Euro U20 tournament, including the #4 pick, Dragan Bender, who was the MVP of the tournament last year and  #11 pick Domantas Sabonis who embarrassed us as a freshman. 2016 lottery pick Pappagiannis is playing for Greece THIS YEAR as well.

13 of the first 26 picks in 2016 NBA draft were international players that  represented their countries in FIBA tournaments in the past.

But, hey, those guys don't compare to talents like James Farr and Dave Leitiao III.

I like both Mussina and Sima, but at this point in time they are not in the top seven in the Big East at their positions. I watched all four games and see little to no progress from 4 months ago --- even though today they both had decent games.  At this point, if we are much better this year, it will be because of the newly eligible guys and the new players.,,,,and Yakwe, Ellison, and Amar's improvement.  We do still have five months plus before the start of Big East games.

I watched the Finland-Spain game. Did you?  Markkanen (5 steals to go with 33 pts and 8 boards) was as physical and tough to guard as anyone Sima will face this year. They ran him off a hundred screens. Strong kid that plays physical inside and like a SF on the perimeter.

Sima missed at least two that I saw. He's a huge part of the Spain team. Hit the offensive glass well and boxed out very well on defense. His back to the basket game is still gross, but he looked good on 1-2 dribble drives from 12-15 ft out. He looked very good to finish regulation.

Markkanen looked good. He's clearly the better talent over Sima.  He'll be a problem at Arizona in a year or two.

I saw some of it. I agree that the individual talent is probably impressive, but these games aren't doing enough to prepare Sima and Mussini for BE. It's less about talent, and more about style of play. Xavier and Butler may not have NBA lottery picks, but they get after it on d. That's what our guys need to get ready for. We already know that Mussini can light up the Belgium defense.

Question is what is better for these two....

Structured games or pick-up ball w/ Hofstra and Iona ?

Depends on the players. For Mussini and Sima, I think pick up ball is more valuable, provided they are playing against talented and physical opponents. Both of those guys were thrown around like rags dolls last year. They need to get tougher. Pickup ball could help them get an edge.

Too shrewd for 19 year olds. I like both of their upsides over the next three years, these two are cornerstone pieces for the program. If Sima refines his FT shooting watch out, it's encouraging to hear that his percentages are increasing, it shows that he's working. I hope Mullin works with Moose on shooting off screens and creating space off the dribble once he gets back on campus.

The big men need to play pickup with some 25-30 year old guys off the NYPD and NYFD teams, toughen them up

This would be classic. my brother played on the FDNY team, some ballers.

I've said a few times, Mullin should bring in Ruland to work with these guus
