I expect the sophomore jump from Ellison.  Not expecting him to be a star at anytime in his career, but a crucial piece. These type of guys are always a factor on championship teams. Like Booth and Bridges on Nova.  I was the first to blast Ellison last year, I think he proves me wrong and becomes that glue guy we need

I think he will be our starting 2 in our first few games. Whether he holds on to that spot throughout the season will be up to him. If he's not a major contributor in February and March, he won't be around to be one for us in 2018 and 19

He's got the size and looks jacked.  Big boy at 6'6.

Hoping he develops into a Paris Horne type player.

I think if that's his ceiling he won't be here long. There will be too many guys on the roster that he will have to compete with for time after this season that if he doesn't make a significant leap this year it would be best for both him and the program to part ways. Hopefully that plays as an extra motivator for him this year

I'm not disagreeing, but As a 6'6 guy coming off the bench who can play multiple positions, who is taking his minutes!

Paris Horne was a key player on a team that knocked off 5 top 15 teams. If our talent is so great that a player of Horne's caliber will be relegated to the bench, I'll be thrilled. I don't think that is likely though.

I think his point is that the staff isn't going to wait to until his senior for Ellison to be at Horne's senior year level. Frankly, I think we're getting ahead of ourselves if we're expecting kids to transfer out to can actually  play, but not at an elite level. We are coming off a 1 win season.

Here's how I see it, completely from an outsider's view with no info and this can and likely will change by the time the season starts.

Ellison can play both the 2 and the 3, same as Bashir. Since Lovett is our main PG, I see Ponds as a 2 mostly. We have a pretty crowded frontcourt so I see Freudenberg mostly as a 3 and not a stretch 4.

This year I see Ellison ahead of Ponds and Freudenberg because he has a full year on them. I see him behind Bashir though. If Ellison is just average this year, Ponds and Freudenberg could jump ahead of him for the 17-18 season., especially Ponds. Then you add Simon to the mix and all of a sudden Ellison is behind both Ponds and Simon at the 2 and behind Bashir at 3, while Freudenberg will also push for minutes at the 3. Ellison would probably still get 15 minutes or so, but is that what he would want as a junior?

I hope Ellison makes a major jump this year and establishes himself as a legitimate big east starter, making all of this moot. But in this era of CBB where 2-3 guys transfer per program per season, I can't help but think Ellison won't be long for this program if he perceives that his minutes/role will slip

Yep. I was a big Paris Horne fan but he greatly benefitted from the main competition to his minutes being Malik Stith. That team wasn't very deep at all, but this staff is building the deepest rosters I've ever seen for this program.

I probably am getting ahead of myself in predicting transfers a year down the road, but to me there's no doubt that this is a supremely important season for Ellison in establishing what his role will be for this program for his junior and senior seasons.

Next season he'll be how old? My next question how tall is he presently ?A third question has he filled out or could he have a growth spurt. In other word is it possible he will grow into big forward with exceptional ball handling skills?

Paris Horne had a good career, but I think Ellison has the tools, to be a DJ Kennedy. He has shown the ability to hit the outside shot, to penetrate into the paint and finish or dish. Physical and mental maturity, how much work does he do and does he find his role? But with his size and skill set, he could develop into a DJ Kennedy.

You're forgetting that we are the best 1-17 team in history. Anyone who averages 10/3/2 and shoots 36 from three better transfer or get used to sitting, he's not even a ninth man on this juggernaut.

35.

My next answer is that he's 9'14" but that could change.

Currently a C cup but I'm hoping he fills out.

No, in other words yes. He may also grow into a yak with highly developed intelligence or an sea cucumber who speaks french. Too early to tell, which is why I'm hoping he red shirts.

No room in frontcourt......4th guard....<8 minutes a game.  Kid has the body and skills but is stuck in an AAU lack of fundamentals

I think you saw Malik really come on the last 9 games of the year. He average 9ppg on 51%

As you all know I've been a big proponent of Ellison and think highly of his potential but he needs to prove his worth early and often because the backcourt is getting crowded. HIs size and strength at guard will be prove valuable on both ends of the floor.

We all know he was a hot mess last year. Let's see what kind of player is he this November. In fairness, all of the freshman were pretty bad for most of the season. They all need to improve.

I like Malik best as a play-maker. Think he can create for us off the dribble whether it be at sf or pg. Once he gets comfortable and settles in this season I think his athleticism will really stand out. I said this last year, I think his ceiling is Josh Hart.

Early starting lineup will be LoVett, Ellison, Bashir, Yakwe, Sima

Mussini and Owens first off the bench.

Ponds and Freudenberg next in rotation.

Alibegovic spot minutes.

Doubt Williams ever returns. Most likely becomes hardship candidate.
