The clearinghouse strikes again. This is a huge blow to Nova for this upcoming year. Kid was going to fortify their paint which is now shallow. Already losing Ochefu to graduation, they should be extremely thin and short down low. Only two players at 6'9 (Delaney 6'9 SO, Painter 6'9 FR), Reynolds 6'8. No one else above 6'7!

By comparison we have 7 players at or above 6'7 next year, (Bash, Yakwe, Sima, Owens, Rich,  Darien, Tariq). And a 6'6 swingman (Malik). Safe to say we should win the battle of the boards come our matchups against Wright in the Winter.

Big blow to Nova and the conference as they defend their title, but I want the W's against them. We have a clear advantage, something to put into perspective.

It is a loss, but I still think they will have a terrific season.  Reynolds is formidable and Jay can play either Hart or Jenkins at the 4.  Hart plays like a guy 5 inches taller.

I thought they had Reynolds but reading your post above I guess he's gone??

Revised, I misread a report Reynolds is a SR. Nevertheless, we have a significant height advantage over them come the BE season. I don't expect our frontline to backdown to anyone this year!

Big blow to their NCAA chances.  They are still a very good team overall, but Spellman was a game-changer size-wise for them.  They now will be quite small as a team overall.  Bigger teams will have more of an advantage in that respect.   I think they'll still be excellent but losing their only true center hurts.

Big hit as Spellman would be the best big in the big East imo.

Nova still is tops of the league

If you don't know the name already, YouTube search Donte Divincenzo, he is Wright's next Arch or Nardi. Going to be a monster program PG for four years. He was slotted to split minutes w Arch last year but got hurt in the preseason. He and Eric Paschall (Fordham transfer) are going to really help fill the void of their departures. Returnees in Booth, Bridges, Hart, Brunson, Reynolds and Jenkins, they should still compete at the highest level and defend their title mightily.

To be fair you used different cut off points for the two teams.  Nova has 6 guys 6'7" or taller if you add in Paschall and Bridges, both pretty good players by the way, who are not "over 6'7" but at 6'7" just like Bashir and Yakwe.  I'm pretty sure neither team is going to field more than three of these guys at one time so I don't see any major advantage for STJ in this area.  So when you compare apples to apples it's not the depth that hurts Nova, it's the fact that Spellman was expected to be a beast.

We don't have dominant inside presence offensively, so I don't think losing this kid hurts Nova re playing SJU. College basketball is a guards game & we are not at the point of edging Nova in that regard in my opinion. Btw, give LoVett some time. Practicing with team or not, very few first year point guards have huge impact out of the gate.
