Best midnight madness ever

Incredible energy in the gym, a ton of top recruits + family + coaches, J. Cole came back to hang out, and student turnout was all-time high. Will share some more thoughts tomorrow

Seems like from everything that I read and also heard from people who both attended and worked the event that it went very well. Seemed like a party which it should be. It is supposed to be a celebration to kick off the season and just off hearing from other people and reading it seems like the team and the athletic department did a very nice job. Hopefully J Cole will be around the team more as he brings that "cool" factor to the program also.

I saw a tweet that said that SJU's midnight madness was trending on twitter.

Sounds like the STJ students really made an effort. Just imagine if they went to the games, too.

Right now #RedStormTipOff is number 4 trending topic on Twitter. Amazing night @StJohnsBBall! #sjubb

Is there really no coverage about it in the kcal papers today?

Nobody on these boards nor redmen.com ever speak well of this event.  The fact that people are seems to me to signal a bit of a turning point for our fan base.  If our students really start getting into this stuff, it makes it even better.  Great to hear!

Pretty cool they had it on FB live too. Didn't see Ellison during the scrimmage... Any idea why?

Also I know very little can be gleaned from the scrimmage, but it looks like we have a pretty complete team this year, with everyone capable of filling a role. That alone should make us more competitive.

Zach reported he has a minor injury and sat out as a precaution

Also heard it was a big success last night.

Also hearing Matty making big impression with Jersey coaches.  That is where Slice was strong so this is an important development.

Watching it now on FB.

Everyone looks like what they're supposed to be.  Lovett with a slick handle, RF a little raw but can shoot 3s, Bash taking it strong to the hole, Amir looking like a stretch 4 off the bench.

That's part of it, but the students have to first have pride in their school. I watched Butler beat the pants off of us 3 ago in an empty MSG. Where were the students when the program needed them?

Mr.  Williams was announced   as a Sr. during the Tip Off ,  is that Zach Brown scholarship? Also looks like he will be Key player for us,  saw them kind of deferring to him.  So that gives us 12/13 scholarships 2017-2018?

Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

Nearly every major travel program in 100 mile radius was represented. It was impressive. I think the prospective student-athletes recognized the peers that were at the event. Great to have competition for future scholarships.

I was obviously as die-hard as they come as a student and sometimes it's just tough getting out to games. Whether it be financial, time, or whatever. Still wish school would do more to transport students to MSG.

I still have never been to one of these.  Perhaps it's time to start going.

Agree, as fun as a packed E back to campus was after a good win, a shuttle bus system would be even better.
