Harrison and Lovett

I remember Harrison's first 2 years, he wasn't shy about pulling the trigger.  He'd shoot from everywhere no matter the circumstance.  Once he learned his role and got comfortable he became more efficient and made the team better.

I expect the same from Marcus.  And because he's a PG that can create his own shot and drive to the hoop, I think he'll learn faster.  Think Marcus will go down as one of the greats.

Harrison never had Lovett's quickness or passing ability,  Lovett has a bigger upside.

LoVett is a point guard. A better comparison is Showtime. I think both of them took more shots than they would have liked to. The point now for the rest of the team is to start thinking while you're playing. The entire front court was out to lunch. Yea, LoVett had enough of it. How many great passes did the front court waste?

Love Lovett. But if he scores 25 and gives up 30 we are going to lose.

Harrison was limited by his foot quickness and overall speed. He did become a much more cerebral player in his last two years but Lovett definitely has more upside.

Good grief are we going to start badgering Lovett now?

If you take away the unrealistic expectations what you are left with is a team with two really dynamic player in Lovett and Ponds. Two guys with potential but still really raw in Yakwe and Sima. Two guys that should be serviceable bench guys in Owens and Mussini and an X factor in Ahmed.
Team will win 15-18 games depending on Ahmed's level of play. Sit back and enjoy the guards and hope Sima and Yakwe improve throughout the year.

We tee off on PGs every year for not being Eric Barkley.  I thought Lovett would be dynamic enough to get a pass.  He still might. Harrison was a 2G on a team that couldn't score any other way.  He had a very tough task.  Lovett is a PG that has options to get involved.  It was a weird game to evaluate.  27 shots is crazy, but at the same time how many great passes can you see dropped or shots right after blocked, before you just say "screw it."

Only chance we had was Lovett and Ponds. We have no low post players, Ahmed right now is inconsistent and Mussini has to be all alone to get off a shot. I enjoyed the game and expect more like it.

agreed, I was frustrated for him -- probably would have done the same thing.  he had sima and ellison bumbling and fumbling, and ahmed is a black hole.  I do wish he got ponds more involved, but he had to be frustrated by the end of the game.  I would rather lovett take 27 than distrubte those same shots to ellison, sima, amar, etc.  One other issue with the longer rotation is teaching guys like amar and ellison  that they can't just come in and start chucking to get their shots in during their 5-10 minutes of play.

As an aside, how would Harrison look on a squad like this? Obviously he was a good to great college basketball player, would he be a good fit on this team though?

Harkless was Big East Freshman of the Year, as he and Harrison came in together.

I think the better Comparision is Lovett and Marcus Hatten..  Dynamic/ athletic point guard that can get his shot at any time.  Hatten was a slightly better defender, but honestly, Lovett can be great on D if he puts the work in..
