Our best two players are 6 foot guards. Rest of the team is not good.
Owens is a 8th man on a good team. Ellison maybe an 8th man. Ahmed I think will be better next year but honestly he has pretty much stunk and I would hate to play with him. Not sure this version of Ahmed plays on a good team.

Ahmed would be a nice player coming off the bench in the Big East

Pond and Lovett are great offensive players who will even be better if the frontline could do anything.  Without scoring up front they are hampered by an inability to pass to someone who can finish, only Ahmed is adequate but he is still a work in progress.  As a result they are doubled constantly, a problem.  Defensively we must improve and the problem is not just bulk and lack of talent......I see too many 50/50 balls going the other way......lack of hustle.  Yakwe and owens are good shotblockers but poor rebounders.....often when they rotate to attempt a block the opposition gets a dunk or layup, rest of team is not rotating to cover the weakside.  Defense must be improved, stay in front of your man, take charges, rotate to stop penetrations, and especially box out.  Gonna be tough tis year with the lack of bulk, skinny asses don't box out to well.  Too bad drinking age is 21, need beer to go along with pizza to bulk these boys up.

No one thinks the talent is any better then that. Xavier is much better then us and should beat us 10/10 times. I don't think anyone disputes that. The issue is for almost 30 minutes of the game they absolutely dominated us. They are good.  But we were that bad. That game could have been a 50 point loss. Xavier could have scored 120 points if they wanted.

So far if you were coaching we'd have Lovett and Ahmed coming off the bench.

Ahmed is averaging 12 points and 6 rebounds and shooting 40 percent from three. He's a very nice player now.

This version of Ahmed would be a lot better if there were bigs who needed to be covered.

Neither one is a three as far as I can tell.

Ahmed's a little out of control. Other than that he's not the problem.

I am not giving up on him but he is very annoying to watch. Has talent for sure but on a team with zero room for error he makes a lot of them. Plus unlike Ponds and Lovett he is a ball hog. I can live with your best players taking bad shots from time to time. Harder with your third best player.

I have to agree with Bluto. Ahmed as a 6th man makes sense to me. I would start Simon at the three. Of course if Lovett leaves that goes out the window.

Never seen him play either, but figured he was more of a 2/3. Was thinking that maybe the staff thinks the same. With the recruitment of the USF kid

I saw him play once. I think was against Arizona ST. Love Pac 10 games. Son and wife asleep I go down stairs and watch a half of basketball or porn depending on my mood.
I think I saw him have his best game of his Arizona career. Scored 10 I think. Based off of one game and his ESPN profile coming of HS looks like better more polished Ellison. I think you can play him with the two guards.

Our guards can't keep anyone out of the lane. Biggest issue that I see.

Fwiw, a friend saw Simon this season in practice and thought he was more of a wing, said he has great speed, but enough handle to play the point occasionally.

Wasn't he a top 50 guy?
Simon and Clark were recruited and played for two programs that are light years ahead of ours. Based off that alone I am not going too far out on a limb to assume they will be 2 of our 5 best players.
