https://stjohns.rivals.com/news/red-storm-checking-out-4-star-point-guardHagans has been on Matt Abdelmassih’s radar since his days at Iowa State. He’s heard about the talented four-star guard through his relationship with Game Elite coach Chris Williams, then saw him play and finally reached out to extend the offer.
“[We’re] very familiar with the program. I used to live in New York and his father is from New York and use to live in Brooklyn,” coach Williams said. “So, we know the rich history of point guards from St. John’s—from the Erick Barkley days to the Omar Cook days, and all that type of stuff.”
Hagans, the No. 32 ranked player in his class, made a name for himself at the NBA Top 100 camp this past weekend. He made his name on defense and also led the camp in assist and steals.
“He’s arguably one of the top two point guards in the country,” coach said. “He guards 92 feet and right now he’s leading all three shoe circuits in assist and is leading Adidas in steals as well. So, wherever he goes it will be a good fit for the program.”
