Well the good thing is we don’t have to wait a week for the next game. Baldi would definitely wear on the most patient fan.

Go look at the Oregon St thread. Baldi wasn't involved in that debauchery

Zach B making some sense

Through two games, my biggest takeaway on St. John's is how much harder they are playing then they have last 2 years. Effort is night and day. #sjubb

There are obvious shortcomings -- depth and size -- but defending and giving max effort are two big steps this program needed to take. So far, they are doing that. #sjubb

They are certainly giving tons of effort and defending much better.

They just need to better value offensive possessions, as I stated in this thread.  Too many lost or wasted possessions for my taste.

No excuse for that stat. Love having him on the team. That said,Gambled a little too much on D. Poor shooting percentage today also. Needs to play smarter, taking better shots and finding the open man.

We gave incredible effort for 12/15 minutes. For another 12/15 minutes we were awful. Not boxing out taking bad shots, and dumb fouls. The team is definitely better. But we have to be more consistent. Not a bad loss, if we learn from our mistakes.

Mizz hit every shot they needed to hit. Two different stretches in the 2nd half they hit 3's on three straight possessions. We did a lot of stuff well. Need to get passed it and win sunday.

definitely something to this.  Needs to focus on this element as well, like Ponds.  I like Lovett and Ponds playing off the ball with Simon at times, but because of our bigs limited offensive game, we need Ponds and Lovett to create shots for others as well.

Also while I think Lovett's on the ball D is much, much improved, he still needs to learn when not to gamble and simply play sound, hawking D

Lovett 40 minutes,  O assists.

He should be the two guard. The ball should be in Shamorie’s hands. He’s simply a better point guard.

100%. The one announcer was right. Ponds should have the ball in his hands every time down the court. The rebounding was a big issue but the threes were killer. A lot of nice bounces they got today, might have been the difference. This team has fire and will be in every game, that's a nice step but hopefully we do more then that.

Everyone needs to chill out. Missouri played very well. That’s a very good team even without their star freshman. We played hard, but we still have work to do before we are playing at an ncaa tournament level. I agree with Seth Greenberg, this is a tournament team. Solid bigs and solid guards and everyone can score.

Here’s what I think we need in of importance:

- f’n box out - they didn’t get second points because they are bigger than we are. They got then because we didn’t put a body on anyone. That’s is coaching.

- control your emotions - Clark has to set a better example. A technical foul and zero rebounds are not what a leader gives us. It’s one game, but I’m still a fan of his, and I hope he’ll bounce back.

-make a decision on a point guard. Yes, Simon had a lot of assists today, but he was really sloppy with the ball, too. Ponds has by far the best assist to turnover ratio and his passes are more accurate and they are handled better by everyone on the team, but this is a touchy area. Would Mullin really tell the new #20 that he’s taking the ball out of his hands? I’m not even saying LoVett because of one bad game shouldn’t be the point guard. That’s crazy, and unfair. What I am saying is that what if Ponds is a 25 + point per game guard with 7 assists and 7 boards a game when he’s the point guard? Is the team better with the ball in Shamorie’s hands more often than it’s in Marcus’s? I think it could be. If Ponds was a little greedier, we win today. It’s not the worst thing in the world if he takes 30 shots in a game when he’s shooting over 50%.

- come out Sunday afternoon having practiced against the zone. The ally-oop was fun, but their long zone really stumped us. We were in control at 58-50, and then we were out-coached.

I usually don't agree with Poison at all but if I could give 1000 likes to that last post I would...well said and spot on there....we got beat by a good team today...team could have folded down 16 in first half fought back and took lead and then the depth factor and we just ran out of gas....this is a tourney team .....this team will be a fun team to watch all year with the scoring options we have...it's really also a shame we could not have one true big cause this team would be a top 20 team all year

Agree Poison has been spot on lately, he must be taking his meds.  ;) :) Agree on the need for at least one more big but in today's game a lummox wouldn't have helped, would have needed an athletic big. Some games down the road a lummox may be of some help.

The game, for the most part, was fun to watch.  I thought we might win.  Turns out we are one really good player short.  No one cost us this game...not even the coach.  We'll be pretty good this year.  Look for some upsets...but we'll be one really good player short to make this a special season.

The effort was amazing but the play was dumb. Why is Lovett not getting assists this year? He and Ponds need to touch the ball every possession. Simon had five ugly unforced turnovers in the half court and two others where he jumped for no reason with the ball and got bailed out. Post him up and let him use his strengths (vision, passing, long arms) while minimizing his high and loose handle. He's a 1-2 dribble player in the half court. Ponds doesn't make those mistakes.

This is a disappointing loss. Missouri is bubble team and we couldn't beat them on a neutral court without their best player and with 3 of their top 6 players being freshmen. Losers bracket.
