Trimble refusing to enter the game is also a redflag.

Did I miss something lately..? He refused to enter a game..?

I dont know exactly what happened. But there where rumblings he was yanked after 45 sec and that when asked to return later in game , he said no.

Heard he did not refuse to enter game, but was benched after mouthing off when pulled after defensive lapse. He was told he was done for rest of game. Good for Mullin & hopefully a lesson learned for Trimble.

Plenty of excuses being made. Williams, Ellison, Lovett, and now yakwe. Does that happen to ed Cooley? How many guys left creighton last year? Who is leaving this year? Not to mention Wilson and brooks.

Team continues to play hard for Mullin despite their record and lack of depth. That says something.
I agree with that. And that is a positive. But no more moral victories. Team played hard for norm also.

Will be an interesting end of year meeting....

Would love to have a good idea how Dixon is fairing in practice against his teammates...

Biggest question mark going forward imo is whether or not the staff can bring in the talent. I'm not worried so much anymore about the "coaching" elements. Funny when he was first hired I thought that wouldn't be the issue.

Trying to understand this team is crazy. Amar looked like a senior captain this week. Season isn’t over. Hoping we make some noise this week.

If we finish .500, I think we will make the NIT

This convo is probably pointless because Providence will beat us by 20 if Ponds isn't playing.

How about a little kudos for the effort without  their best player and acknowledging that what you said was insanely incorrect
The fact that we are in 9th place and 4-14 doesn’t register with people. THIS HAS NOT BEEN A GOOD SEASON! Neither were the last 2.

You think people don't know that?

Sadly no. Georgetown fans are happy now. They won’t be happy if they are still playing Wednesday night in two years. Half or more of Marquette fans want wojo out. And they have been decent. Whatever fans that are left of depaul want their coach out.
Here at St. John’s, it’s trust the process. Rome wasn’t built in a day.

We have a shot, based on somewhat recent history.

In 2010, Norm's last season, the Red Storm went 17-15, and 6-12 BE Regular Season, with 1 win in BET. Best win that year  Louisville @MSG.

This years team much better wins, 4-14 Big East 15-16 overall..

So 3 wins in 4 days, we get to BET final lock.

2 wins positive bubble

1 win negative bubble.

0 wins team goes back to Queens with the tail between their legs.

The Lovett situation was ridiculous, and I think many of us are trying to assess our W-L record through that lens.

AMEN - Lovett quit on the team. He refused to try and play after he recover from his injury because he worried about his future.

St. John's was a bubble team if he played the entire season and definitely NIT bound if he came back from his knee injury. Losing kids to injury is part of the game but losing kids because they are quitters can't be laid in the lap of the coach.

It’s the coach’s program. He gets the credit when it works, and he gets the blame when it doesn’t. Blaming the players is even crazier than blaming the refs. If your season immediately falls apart after losing one player to injury, it’s not that kid’s fault.

Your wrong.  Everybody knows "THIS HAS NOT BEEN A GOOD SEASON!" thus far.  They are just not going to publicly complain on here for years straight when everyone and his mother knows that coach will be returning next season.

Then there are others like myself that are loyal and will never condemn Chris Mullin no matter what happens.

From what I hear from someone I'm friendly with associated with he team is that Dixon is fairing very well in practice against his teammates. He is a quick guard who shoots well. Makes ponds work in practice. Also, from this same source, said that the staff is VERY high on Greg Williams and think he will make an impact right away.

Sorry carmine, we disagree. I look at Chris Mullin as a basketball coach. Basketball coaches take criticism. He is not my hero. If we are playing Friday night he will be the talk of the city. If we lose Wednesday because we don’t even have 1 scholarship guard active he deserves all the abuse. This is happening in every conference in the country. If duke loses coach K will take crap.
Chris Mullin is not the supreme leader.

You do you.  You don't have to do like me.

But when you're writing in caps "THIS HAS NOT BEEN A GOOD SEASON!" like you feel you're informing the world of something only you can see.  Well that's just silly.

Carmine- many of the posters know from reading these boards that Steve Lavin was a terrible coach who got lazy and stopped recuiting. He had also had no control over the program. Rysheed Jordan rarely if ever went to practice.
Same fans know different three years later. Again from reading this board and the other one. Coach deserves a pass. It was Lavin. Cupboards and cupards were bare.

Louisville jerkoff players voted not to play in NIT. Too bad. I'm sure plenty of teams would gladly take their spot

Nothing wrong with that. 10 years ago we played in the CBI. Our players and fans were happy. I remember watching the game on an awful stream vs Richmond. We wouldn’t accept a bid there this year.

Bet the house they lose to Northern Kentucky.

Bottom line is when programs like UL miss the NCAA's they simply don't want to play in another tourney especially when they were on the bubble and felt they belonged in the NCAA.  Be surprised if they give a huge effort.
