Have any of these ONSNA kids panned out?
Seems like it's a bunch of raw athletes that never evolve anything more than good shot blockers.
Obekpa was just that. Even elite programs like Kansas with Cheik couldn't make him into a good college player.
Doesn't bold well with Boubacar
Diallo was only in school for one season, so I'll give him a pass. He had more potential than Obekpa (particularly, on the offensive end), but he left school too early.
Obekpa would've been one of the top two or three shotblockers in Big East history, if he had remained at St. John's. He was also fairly decent on the boards.
Yakwe was on the All Big-East Rookie Team as a frosh, but totally regressed. He had hands like "Chubbs" from 'Happy Gilmore,' but to regress so badly has to make you wonder. Player and staff has to take blame, per his regression.
Diakite may be (believe it or not) more athletic (and, can put the ball down on the floor) than the three mentioned above, but he's coming off a patellar tendon tear. Not to mention, he's also raw like the other OSNA player's mentioned above. I'm not sure how much he'll be able to help us next season, but he could potentially turn out to be a good pick up before it's all said and done. Unfortunately, we need help pronto.
I agree, these OSNA kids seem like raw athletes for the most part.
