takeaways

- loved Keita's mini hook shot
- LJ is dynamic
- Roberts looks noticeably bigger from when I saw him at Advocare tourney in Orlando
- AD Cragg putting sneaker sponsorship up for grabs to get best deal, (Nike would not surprise me), committing to make MSG home and negotiate there
- Ponds didn't hit a 3

Thanks for the update nc. Was the cragg comment made at some type of alumni close door gathering or something?

Having LJ this year is like having another Simon out there. They mirror each other physically and athletically and I’m pretty sure if they stood on opposite sidelines they could still hold each others hands. He was the best part of the scrimmage. The second best part is realizing that one of LJ, Simon, or Dixon will be our...SIXTH best scorer. Any one of them might have lead us in scoring Mullin’s first year.

Of course Heron being cleared is the best news we could possible hear!

My thoughts on the scrimmage:

Roberts looked raw but I loved his energy and willingness to play inside. Looks good and moves well. He could become a Marillac favorite.

Keita was disappointing. His hook shot was sloppy. Skills look raw and he doesn't move as well as Roberts.

Trimble looks great. Awesome pace at all times. The shot looked perfect. He looks more lean. This is the kind of kid that gives quality depth that can make or break a team. I really hope he stays all four years. He complements Simon perfectly.

Dixon can do it all but he seems rushed to me. Hopefully his pace improves.

Shamorie looked like crap. I know it was a scrimmage, but I've played checkers with more intensity. His second trey with no follow through and immediate turnaround was disgusting to watch.

The freshman guess (Williams) didn't look good, but he's got the talent to be good with time.

LJ looked good. I don't see the athleticism others speak of but the length was evident. He moved better than I expected. He definitely appears to have the mindset and confidence of a scorer and that can help set him apart from similarly talented guys.

Will also add that this is without a doubt the deepest roster since the Jarvis days (by quite a lot too) and the most talented since Postell's senior year. Hopefully this 2018-19 crew can make a real claim to being better than those last two Postell teams.

However you want to play him on offense, out best lineup will be with Simon at the four or five defensively next to Clark.

What about last night didnt show you LJ's athleticism? Tough to see his horizontal quickness which I know your big on but he was flying around the rim the whole time.

I didn't see anything negative. I just can't check off the boxes for overall athleticism yet. Simon is a freak athlete that jumps off the screen.

What stood out to me with LJ was his swagger and confidence. It's not easy to get that many shots with the likes of Ponds, Simon, Dixon, and Clark on the floor.  I expected him to be more stiff. So far so good.

I didn't see the scrimmage but I saw pics and random videos and it seems like Trimble did everything he was supposed to do this summer. Got in better shape and worked hard on his game.

How was the crowd? The upper bleachers looked really empty. Was it designed that way or people just didn’t show up?

I didn' really focus on him and he didn't do anything to stand out. The only play that left an impression was someone blowing by him and him playing too high, forcing him to try and get there with his arms instead of his feet. It was ugly but expected from a freshman at this point.
