Why do we need a bench coach?

Disappointing almost loss. Maybe things go south next time and they don't pull it out. Then you're mindless years of whingeing like a bitch will bear fruit. Meanwhile, they're four and oh, a couple of which they've pulled put of their asses. Better luck next time stupid.

Ponds with zero to’s. The 30 pts and 5 asts is nothing new. Clark when he’s not hitting offensively can be a really frustrating player to watch. Makes some boneheaded plays and is somewhat of a black hole at times. Had Dixon wide open in the corner and forced up two shots before losing it on a 3rd attempt underneath.

Dixon had a great 5 minutes or so and a real bad 5 minutes or so. Don’t think he’s really comfortable out there yet.

No one is perfect but hard with Dixon because effort not there

Great post old timer. Your not stupid just a little senile. Not sure if you are able physically to stay up this late. But we should be 5-0 by this time tomorrow. Temple and VCU are even worse. Trust the process!

That second half was bad and I saw that one particular play your mentioned but I also paid close attention when he got in first half and he was working hard and playing well.

This is the first time I really watched Dixon and he's got some talent. Reminds me of a typical, hard driving Big East style guard. Just needs to keep his head in the game but looks like he can provide some instant O.

All the "where's Ponds" were answered tonight.  He looked like he deserved the Big East pre-season POY accolade.  Just back and can say he was the "talk of the town".  Glad to see him have the success in his home town.

Very odd factoid--both teams had the same number of made 2PT and 3PT field goals, something I have never seen before.  We win on FT's.

Not going to be a season for the Faint of Heart

You're out of your mind if you think Dixon isn't trying hard. He hit the deck at least three times and he's always moving. Did you watch the game?

Defense and depth has to improve. Good gut win and incredibly clutch performance from Shamorie. Wow just wow.

We should all become Cal fans for rest of the season.

What the hell was that?

We don’t work together at all on defense. Cal’s guards got into the lane at will. We’ve now made Cal and Bowling Green look like good offensive teams.

I can see how this gets better and we become a strong all around team. For that to happen they have to recognize that this isn’t close to ready yet.

It was thrilling to watch Ponds bail us out but he wasn’t involving the offense so he had to. The plan just seemed to be to have Ponds put it on the floor and create. It works. Can’t deny it. We’ll certainly take it.

Tomorrow I’d like to see the team pass the ball like they did against RU in the second half.

Justin Simon was incredible. This was his best game as a Johnny. Holy crap was he good. Those offensive boards were HUGE. That quick take with his back to the basket af the FT line against the 2-3 is indefensible. Running the baseline...effort city of defense. Bravo Justin...f*ckig bravo!

- Garfunkel 0 for 3 from the stripe.  Everyone else perfect.

- Walden shuts up the ungrateful who've fallin in love with this year's girls.

Your assessment of my age is off by about 20 percent, which is as close as you've come to being right about anything since you started posting here.

Did you see him back off a corner shooter on the three point line late in the shot clock to double an entry pass that never came? That's not energy, that's IQ.

Justin Simon was incredible. This was his best game as a Johnny.

Against Butler last year in a double OT win JS played all 50 minutes and had 24 points,10 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and a block. So maybe 2nd best.

Yes. Did you. Why do you think he really does not play in 2nd half of any games?
Hits deck because he is 6 foot and 90 pounds.

That was terrible and even Fran pointed it out. But watch he go around screens. Ponds and Simon aren't great at closing out on shooters either but Dixon is worse. And he is not Ponds or Simon........

He got beat on d all night

He isn't the perimeter defender he was billed as and we hoped for. I think that's clear this year. He's a big boy at 6'5 215 so it's a big ask to have him match up with a guy like Austin who is 6'0 185 and quick. His effort was very high all night...his fundamentals and his team d will hopefully come along as the season progresses and the chemistry improves.

Hits deck because he is 6 foot and 90 pounds.

He makes too many mental errors at this point. Physically he looks like the quickest kid that has ever lived out there on both ends, but he needs to catch up to the speed of this level mentally. His skill set also doesn't allow him to fully utilize his speed at this point.

He battles for rebounds, he hits the deck for loose balls, he's always in motion...effort will be the least of his problems this season. Maybe if/when he gets better all around as a senior and is scoring 18 ppg that could be an issue.
