A chance to hoist a championship trophy for the first time since 2010.

VCU isn't particularly deep or offensively gifted, but their havoc full court defense remains. Led by Junior PG Marcus Evans, who is coming off major ACL surgery and is operating at 75% health.

This will be the toughest test of the OOC schedule besides Duke. We're a tough team to press with Ponds and all the shooters.

After watching VCU last night I think we lucked out on our opponent. Temple's guards would've given us fits and to our luck VCU doesn't have a kid over 6'10.  I like Justin guarding their star athlete Issac Vann. The challenge will be keeping Marv out of foul trouble handling equally physical Marcus Santos-Silva and Michael Gilmore. That being said we're deeper and have much more talent. I think the roster wakes up offensively after last night's blunder from the complimentary pieces.

St.John’s 72, VCU 67

Ponds isn’t losing in Brooklyn. He lights it up again in his backyard and drops 30.

I think we win this game, maybe even hop in the top 25. This team has swagger and experience which makes up for the lack of big men. I think (and hope) we will be a very good tourney team as the chemistry continues to build but the talent is there and its up to coach now. That being said, the lack of big men may give us a little trouble tonight..

I think our size issue is magnified because we don’t play defense. If we boxed out and fought through screens we’d give up less easy baskets.

last night I saw Mullin bench ponds because he wasn’t playing D. Came back in and took over game. Tonight Mullin lites fire under everyone.

Don’t believe Mullin is benching anyone for lackluster D.

It’s the lack of ball pressure on the perimeter. It’s the most identifiable area on defense we’re lacking and the easiest to correct if it mattered to the staff. Since it appears it doesn’t it won’t unless the players’ take it upon themselves to do.

VCU sending 0 guys for offensive rebounds in the first 4 mins. Going to do us a big favor if that continues

Ouch. 3 shots rim out for us and they get an ugly banked 3. Have got to make them pay if we are gonna attack early like that
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Same Simon shit as last year. He should never bring the ball up the court.
