Ray's or Umberto's - 76
Pat's or Gino's        - 71

Jumped out to a big early lead in Philly but couldn't close the deal. If we steal this one we would have to break down the stretch to not dance. 500 Sunday non football season start should have the mecca packed, rocking and rollin.

??
Poster said it was a Sunday with no football. Wrong. New league started last weekend the weekend right after the Stupor Bowl. The Alliance of American Football. Players previously played in NFL and I would think most are trying to make it back or at least continue their careers and earn a paycheck.

Villanova- 84
St. John's- 70

No way we beating Nova with the street ball offense. We barely beat Butler and Nova just smoked Providence. Nova won't overlook us this time in their controlled, organized basketball style. Think Duke game but not as bad for us.

Streetball? We are one of the better offenses in the conference and we are near the top in fewest turnovers.

Our offense is very undisciplined. Too much reliance on athleticism and less on Xs and Os. Shamorie cannot win every game for us and many times I see us forcing plays instead of just taking our time and breaking down a defense.  It becomes so much clearer against the better teams and well coached teams we play. Exciting when its on fire yes, but there is not much consistency and organized play which is what you need to be an annual contender. This was a similar problem to Lavin's teams.

We are the 7th in the BE in terms of offensive efficiency, though we are tied with Villanova for lowest turnover rate

+1. And if our shots aren't falling and/or our shooting goes south, it can get ugly very fast.

Agree that we are one of the better offenses in the conference but we do revert to streetball at times, especially when being frustrated by the defense (Simon going 1 on 5 not looking for open man, "wild" shots by Keita, LJ running through people and getting offensive fouls, cross court "highlight alley-oops at crucial points in the game, etc.). These were all evident in the G'Town and Providence games. Move the ball like we did against Creighton and Marquette and we are an elite offense. Discipline and consistency is what separates Nova's offense and ours. Hope the Creighton / Marquette version shows up Sunday and doesn't get rattled when Nova turns up the defensive pressure like they did in the first game.

We don’t have a big man to make 60% of his shots and draw double teams. It’s a miracle we are as good without a big and with Simon killing our spacing.

Simon and Keita are unskilled and out of control players. That’s who they are and no coach could change that.

It’s not fair to lump LJ with them. He’s a first year d-1 player and takes chances. A lot of times those chances pay off.

We don't have an undisciplined offense.  We have a free flowing, pro-style offense that lets our best playmakers make things happen with the ball by design.  It throws college hoops fans for a loop, but it is substantially similar to a NBA offense run by guys with below-NBA level skill. We run good sets but often don't move the ball enough to let them develop; iso offense is particularly ugly when ponds/heron/simon force it too much.

I get the "street ball" description, but I think that is mostly because Ponds' style is loose and playground-like.  At the end of the day, he does not turn it over that much and our offense is relatively efficient.
