Xavier predictions thread dvah

St. John's University - 76
Xavier University      - 75

Break out the clichés:
"Our backs are to the wall"
"We're cornered with no way out"
"When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on."
"desperate times call for desperate measures"
"a wounded animal is most dangerous" etc. etc. etc.

When a reporter asked the players following the Villanova victory; 'How does it feel now that you've punched your ticket to the dance? I cringed.

When team spokesman Hammer intimated following the Providence or was it the Xavier loss that we were already in I cringed even more.

My best take is that if we win this one we're in. If we lose this one we'll definitely have to win one in the BE tournament, and quite possibly need to win two.

SJU 73
X 66

Why? Because I have no idea what to predict anymore. Win and we are in, lose and it’s 50/50

Get out and run, quick help D and stay aggressive on O (LJ and Marv) and we can win. I think they know we need it.

LOL at everyone predicting a win...after these last few performances, expecting a win is foolish on an astronomical level

Earlington disagrees.

It's not the Kentucky derby with 20 horses. Somebody has to win and there's only two entries.

This is true. Furthermore this team has defied expectations all conference season. When you expect a win, they lose. When you get down on them and expect a loss, they win.

We’ll be smaller dogs at X than X was at us last week

Let's just say all signs point towards a disaster in Cincy. I will be mildly surprised if they stay within 10 let alone a win.

We really can’t expect anything in particular, except maybe that whenever we do expect an outcome we’re wrong.

Which St.John’s team will show up? Which Ponds? Which Heron? Which Simon? Which Figgy? Which Clark.

To have inconsistent team, you need inconsistent players. Mullin hasn’t found a way to stop it. Hopefully, he’s busy looking for one. Hopefully, someone on the staff is.

All that said, I can’t imagine that this is an 8-10 team in a year where the conference clearly lacks even one dominant team.

Johnnies - 76
Xavier - 69

Ponds drops 34. Roberts has 7 boards and 4 blocks.

Xavier - 81
St. John's- 72

We have not been able to stop big men all year, theme not changing especially at their place and we do not have the greatest history with Xavier to begin with. If I was Xavier I would be amped for this game at own place. Our March hopes take a hit with the hope we get a favorable BE draw to bail us out.

Is this the game Earlington wins for us?

Naji Marshall may not play today. In a boot and considered day to day. Game time decision.

If he doesn't play then I'll change my prediction to the Johnnies in a nail biter.

Was wondering why the spread was only 2.5
