Bottom line, if Mullin wants another year, he's got it. This is what the University signed up for when they hired him. You hire the face of the program, he gets a longgggg rope.
I bet if mullin really wanted another year that would be true. I don’t believe he wants one.
I do not believe he will be allowed to come back without changes. Hero or not.

That may be true. He may not want another year, and bow out gracefully. We'll see. But he won't be forced our yet.

The only solution that will work is the University must remove themselves from the hiring process.

Collectively, they are nice persons. Just the fact that they hired Mullin makes them nice persons.

Only way things change is if those same POS are nowhere near the next choice.

That, and whoever does make the call for the next head coach, if and when that choice is made, they should be shot on sight if they even suggest an assistant coach or some other insanely arrogant prick with zero experience be hired for anything other than standing up and waving during a TO.

Mike Cragg can make these decisions no reason he should be removed from the process.  If he wants to hire a consulting firm then that’s great too. This is what we brought him here to do.  Be the actual ad.

I am confident that Cragg will make a good hire if Mullin and the school mutually part ways.

C'mon Craggy. Take some of what you learned under Coach K and hire a future star. The time is now.

Understand that Cragg and the school want to win now and bulld for the future.  He will, if this happens, cast a wide net but I think leading candidates will include a couple of former Duke assistants.

His Duke connections can only help with the search yet he should be looking at all options. We should be all over Nate Oats. A guy who's young, winning and paid his dues. Exactly the right profile to build sustainable success.

I still have some hope for this season, but if Mullin and SJU do move on I agree someone like Oats would be the right move (as opposed to guys like Dawkins/Amaker who already have long mediocre track records)

Want neither. Let’s give a young guy a chance.

Agree on Dawkins and Amaker. Plenty of track record on both to see neither is what we need here. Again let Cragg leverage the Duke tree but not settle for mediocrity and lean towards younger. I really hope they go after Oats but probably a pipe dream the way this school does things.

Based on what? He’s never made a hire.

Pass. We need a young guy (although youth should not be the main factor) with head coaching experience who's proven to be a consistent winner. Nate Oats.
