Biggest get by far for Anderson, a lot bigger than Posh, JUCO all American Vince Cole has committed to St. John’s after a visit this weekend. Posh and Cole already will be a top 40 class and and get a few more and it will easily be top 25. The work is being put in. Wow is all I can say.

We’ve had many juco all-Americans here. Lavin and Mullin had them. We also had one that was cut as a walk-on by Norm Roberts before going to JUCO.

Nice early gets combined with a proven, winning Head coach. Season can't get here soon enough.

JUCO All Americans are a good thing.

But hey, I see your point. It would be a f’n disaster if we had a bunch of guys who shot 44% from three as freshman in JUCO, and 87% from the line, and rebounded like a forward while staying active on defense.

Let’s hope it doesn’t happen.

This is becoming bizarro world. Why does everything have to be one extreme or the other? There is no nuance allowed?

I don’t care where we get talent from. I like adding JUCO glue guys like the PF Anderson landed in the spring. Occasionally I’ll love a JUCO for a big role like LJ (was stoked to land him from the beginning) and that combo guard that Arizona State got this year.

Those types of talents have become exceedingly rare in JUCO due to the watering down of college admissions requirements and the rise of post-grad basketball academies.

My issue is wit the hype this kid is getting. Valdir Manuel was a fellow freshman on the same second team NJCAA all-American team and he didn’t get 1/10th the reaction from our fans. Why?

The staff has targeted over 20 JUCOs already in six months. Can you show me one team in the Big East that has relied on multiple JUCOs to make the tournament?

Cincy when they were in the Big East.

As I’ve said repeatedly, JUCO basketball is not the same as it was even a decade ago. The talent just isn’t there. Also, Cincy always landed top 100 talent.

Tell that to LJ Figueroa. Not sure what your issue is but I am happy that Cole has committed.

I agree with you and for the most part Juco's haven't exactly panned out for SJU outside of Bootsy, Hatten, and LJ.

Hardy, Brownlee, Sanchez, Bashir. All starters.

Sanchez was a HUGE disappointment. Bashir was a little bit of a let down as well considering he was a 1st team All-American in the national POY discussion who played in the best conference in the country for one of the best programs and with some of the best talents to come out of JUCO in recent memory.

Hardy and Brownlee all day. Combo guards and PFs are the positions to tap JUCOs for as I’ve said for two decades.

Sanchez was a bit of a disappointment but would absolutely take him again. Our last two tourney teams could have used a Sanchez.

The next JUCO visiting for Madness, Christian Guess, any thoughts? He was enrolled at Mizzou.  I’ve already mentioned 7 kids in one class in not the best idea. Besides that, just what you think of him as a player.

Sanchez was a bit of a disappointment. Every St. John’s team that I have watched in 25 years could have used him.

And maybe Walter Berry.  He wasn't very good but he tried real hard.

I’ve never seen Guess play but it’s problematic to be be recruiting two JUCO wings in the same class.

I do not like the reliance on JUCOs. There are no top 50 kids that fit Anderson’s “system”?

Sanchez was awful here, but to be fair he was the type of player that needed a defined role and structure and Lavin was not that coach.
