Game 2: CCSU Player of the Game

I’m going with LJ, but that was an impressive second half out of the freshman. He’s more skilled than I thought.

That freshmen is gonna be one heck of a defender.

Anyone not think if we traded Sears for Keita last year we win a few more games?

I don't think anybody can safely make that assertion yet after two games against Mercer and Central Connecticut. He also only got 5 mins of PT against Mercer and didn't get extended minutes today until the game was out of hand. Let's see what he does in real situations against real teams if this staff even trusts him enough to put him on the court in those spots.

Champagnie has been a really great pickup thus far. As long as he continues to accept that role of being a stretch four, we are in good hands. Marillac loves him some skilled, smaller PFs. They are so much more useful than big stiffs. We have a lot of skill at the four this year.

He’s nowhere near as athletic, but I think he is just as as skilled as Sampson and Simon...and he’s willing to play PF! That’s so rare these days.

To answer Mase’s question, I think Sears would have saved the jobs of both Lavin and Mullin. He’s the type of player they both needed (along with a solid backup PG). That basket off the dropstep first half was the best back to the basket move we’ve seen from a big man in a decade. But it’s early and those five fouls in five minutes against Mercer were terrifying.

Going with Josh Roberts again. Anchors the defense that allows us to get out and run. Definitely second most improved after Heron from last season.

I added Mustapha Heron to the poll not sure how he wasn't on there. He was lights out

I think Champagnie has played really well so far and the buy-in to his role he's showed is surprising to me. His commitment to playing down low is key.

Sears is serviceable. He can catch and eat up enough space. We haven't had depth up front since Norm Roberts had Brownlee, Burrell, Evans, and Coker.

I made one and didn’t add his name because there’s a sanity line people shouldn’t cross.

When we get Steere, against certain opponents, I could see us go with LJ, Heron, Steere, Champagnie and Roberts.

I think that's a liability on both ends of the floor. Who is the 3?

You just crossed a sanity line.
