Game #16: @Georgetown
« on: January 08, 2020, 08:56:22 AM »
St.John's 78, Hoyas 68

40 minutes of hell.
This is the game to do it.

I have an odd feeling that Heron will finally have a good game.
Also, I think LJ returns to form, as well.

Georgetown board isn’t confident. Need to win this game.

Unless we get key players like Roberts, Rutherford and LJ in foul trouble there is no reason why we can’t run them out of their own gym.

Big game. Hoya Paranoia in full swing.

Agreed on the 40 minutes of hell especially against an undermanned G'town team. Our depth and conditioning should play a big role against their 7 man rotation.

Keep McClung from going wild and we should win.

Loser will likely finish last in the conference. Winner has hopes for postseason berth kept alive temporarily.

Gonna need to actually make 3s tonight. Georgetown gives up a ton of 3 point attempts and their opponents have generally been hitting them at a good percentage. Not gonna win this one shooting 20% from 3

well our third most reliable 3-point shooter, williams, is out, so that will be a bit more difficult.  The key to improving the 3-pointer percentage is having the right guys take them, heron and figueroa.  Georgetown has a short bench, slashing and drawing fouls will lead to victory.

What’s the matter with Williams? I like the kid. But he can’t shoot

Not sure slashing is the optimal strategy tonight. Georgetown over-helps off the perimeter to clog the lane and are very good at blocking shots around the rim without fouling. We'll see but think tonight is a game for some drive and kick and hope some guys step up and make some shots. Hopefully it's Rutherford and Dunn driving and kicking to Heron, LJ and Caraher and Earlington and Champagnie don't decide to start chucking shots.

Two totally different styles off reffing on each end. Tick tack on one end and nothing on the other, this is horrible.
