Game 18: St. John’s @Providence
« on: January 12, 2020, 12:29:27 PM »
By far the biggest game of Mike Anderson era. You win this game and you get yourself a chance to have a HUGE game Saturday at the Garden against Seton Hall. You lose this game and then you are looking at losing 3 or 4 in a row possibly and getting yourself stuck down in the cellar of the conference and no way you can climb out. What are Providence’s strengths and weaknesses?

Diallo is their strength. We need to hold him in check. Watson is their big bull down low who they will try to go to early and beat us up in the post. Similar to Xavier, Cooley and Providence have owned us recently winning 9 of the last 10. I think this is a game where Anderson's style will really help.

Watson owned us last year. So did Diallo. We didn’t play defense, and they took advantage.

Yup we typically struggle with big uglies like Watson and Jones from X. It would be nice to have one of our own to throw out there. I think we'll have one or two of those in coming years.

I think our aggressive defense keeps us in this one. Tough place to win and tough matchup. Just hope we pull it out.

Steer hasn’t shown much. Hopefully he can get a few minutes. Can’t imagine he is ed bayne bad.

We need to do better on the boards and get the offense going early.  This will be a tough match up on the road.  Cant get down too far early.
