Leading Scorer 20-21
« on: October 06, 2020, 05:43:43 PM »
This season, much more so than in the past, it’s wide open. We don’t know who will be ready to be an alpha. We didn’t have one last year, and it showed.

I think it's Dunn. Senior, second year in system and will play major minutes at both backcourt spots.

There won’t be a full season, but Cole will be the leading scorer. Dunn-Champ-Earlington clustered in the next tier.

Posh won’t have a great average but I could see him scoring 20 a few times with a handful of 6 and under games.

Let's hope we have the balance that so far this poll is showing.

You could make an argument for any of 4-5 guys, which is okay. I chose Dunn; based on his experience and playing both guard positions.

Let's Go Johnnies!

You could make an argument for everyone except probably McGriff and Wusu.

Toro being an experienced player, Cole, a Juco AA, even Greg Williams could become more aggressive as a starting player.

Just give Dunn two feet and he can’t score. I love his effort, and I think he’ll be a good defender, but he can’t shoot the ball.

Dunn just because he drives and will get to the line.

JC seems to get a lot of garbage buckets (good, but he isn't driving on specific plays) so I think he will get less free throws, hence Dunn will bubble to the top.

Earlington is the dark horse as he gets to the line a lot seemingly.

I think we’ll get a few games in before the season is cancelled.

I think we should hope for Dunn and Toro to lead the team but not necessarily in scoring.

Is Dunn a 1 or a 2? I still think he’s neither. Hope he develops into a great senior. Wouldn’t be the first.

From a season long point of view, I voted Dunn. Let's call him a combo guard but, he is the most likely to have the ball in his hands at the end of games whether passing or taking a shot. He'll get breakaway layups, easier baskets then some of the other guys. Not saying he's scoring 20 a night, might average 13-14 and still lead the team in scoring.

History shows it is too much to expect high impact from a JC transfer their first year. Cole will have his best scoring games early and late in the season. The BE schedule is just too tough. Could see four guys averaging double figures this year.

I’d love to have that parity. I hope Dunn can have that terrific senior season that we haven’t had at St.John’s since 2015. It’s not often, but sometimes our seniors can rise to the occasion after having taken their lumps for three years.

That would be ideal.

I think our experience with Jucos has been that sometimes they need time, and sometimes they’re ready to go now. We don’t know which one we have yet.

Hopefully we get Dwight Hardy or first year LJ, not last year LJ.

Hardy yes. All day. I don’t want any version of LJ. We don’t need selfish players with delusions about how good they are.

I'm not overly optimistic.
