I haven't read or heard of us being interested in this kid but he's going to be a player. Just got accepted into NBA top 100 camp. Hey Norm, get on it!

Long Island wing seeing recruiting explode with strong spring for NY Panthers

Who is J.J. Moore?

That is a question being asked by many a fan, recruitnik and college coach this spring as the 6-foot-5, 200-lb small forward from Brentwood High School on Long Island has been having a breakout spring playing with the NY Panthers on the AAU circuit and the tough IS8 Spring League in NYC.

J.J. Moore is on the move.

The 6-foot-5 senior wing from Long Island visited Providence last week and will hit Pittsburgh on Tuesday and potentially St. John’s on Thursday.

“I think J.J. was really impressed with the new coach [at Providence, Keno Davis] and what they’re trying to build over there and he’s also impressed with the financial investment that the school and community has invested into making the program top notch,” said Hunt Bresky, Moore’s advisor who is making the trips with him.

“He was really pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. He wasn’t as familiar with Providence as some of the other programs.”

Per Zags- JJ Moore down to StJ, Pitt & Louisville

Long Island wing J.J. Moore has cut his list to three Big East schools after a weekend official visit to Louisville.

“The list is three schools: Louisville, Pittsburgh and St. John’s,” said Gary Charles, Moore’s AAU coach with the New York Panthers. Moore made the trip with Charles and Moore’s mentor, Hunt Bresky.

Charles said Moore, ranked No. 23 among small forwards in the Class of 2010, is tentatively slated to take an official to St. John’s the weekend of Oct. 30 and to Pitt the weekend of Nov. 6.

Florida is out after getting a commitment from Jackson (Tenn.) small forward Casey Prather.

After visiting St. John’s and Pitt, Moore will be ready to announce a decision.

“The goal is for him to see everyone in the same exact element that he saw Louisville in,” Charles said.

Apparently he made his decision on his trip to Louisville.

Small forward J.J. Moore of South Kent Prep School in Connecticut visited the University of Louisville last weekend and loved it, the director of his AAU team said. He watched the Cardinals practice and spent time with coach Rick Pitino.

Now the 6-foot-6 player plans to give the other two schools he's considering — Pittsburgh and St. John's — a chance to make a similar impression. He had planned to pick a college after the U of L visit but will postpone the decision until he can see Pitt and St. John's again and watch their practices; he wasn't able to do that in previous visits to those schools.

“He wanted to be fair to everyone else,” said Gary Charles, the director of the AAU New York Panthers. “He wanted to visit the other two schools when he could see them in the same environment (as he saw U of L). Watch the team practice, get to know them a little and just see how things are going to be at that school.

“He loved the visit (to U of L). Because he loved it so much, he felt compelled to visit the other schools again and make sure about his decision.”

Charles said Moore, who is ranked the nation's No. 107 senior by Rivals.com, will visit St. John's next weekend and Pittsburgh on Nov. 6.

You got that from my post?  We were in his final 3 and the above article makes it sound like he has made his decision but will finish his visits.  Much stronger than other reports.

Any chance this kid wants to stay home and play in front of friends and family?  Hopefully Norm works some magic this weekend.

They were behind the scenes according to Zach checking out locker rooms and media. I think thats pretty cool if you ask me. The Knicks though are putrid so if St. John's makes some noise they will be the talk of the town.

Quote
JJ Moore has been a busy young man lately taking visits to Louisville, St. John’s, and Pittsburgh in about a 10 day stretch. He really enjoyed all three of his visits and he is going to make his decision in two weeks from Friday according to his mother. “He will be making his decision in two weeks from Friday. We don’t want to make the coaches hold out if they can recruit someone else.”
