A Look at the '08 Recruiting Class...those who went elsewhere
« on: December 15, 2008, 10:29:44 PM »
If you go up to the blogs link at the top of the forum we have a new blog entry by Ken Walter who will be writing his blog here on college hoops around the country.

He takes a look at all the St. John's targets who went elsewhere and how they are doing on their teams this season.

It looks like most would have gotten more time if they came to St. John's.

Not too many guys getting too much PT so far. I bet Mookie will get a lot more time if Devendorf winds up leaving the team.

I'm surprised Devoe Joseph isn't getting more time at Minnesota

Can Mookie Jones still redshirt? He has alot of DNP's, Im not sure what the rule is on that

I think its under 9% of team's games played. Don't hold me too that though.

I'm not sure because I know that Maurice Sutton is expected to redshirt for Nova and he hasn't logged anytime yet this season but I don't know when the deadline is.

He can't redshirt. He's already played in games for Syracuse. If he were injured, he could apply for a medical redshirt, since he hasn't played in over 30% of the team's scheduled games.

I thought Cook for Pitt couldn't get a medical redshirt because he played in 10% of the games last year. I could be wrong I'm committing this to memory.

NCAA Bylaw 14.2.4, which states that a "student-athlete may be granted an additional year of competition for reasons of hardship. Hardship is defined as an incapacity resulting from an injury or illness that has occurred under the following conditions: (1) occurs in one of the four seasons of intercollegiate competition, (2) occurs prior to the completion of the first half of the playing season and (3) occurs when the student-athlete has not participated in 30 percent of the school's scheduled contests."

Besides Landesberg who do you think would have made the most impact on this team this year?
