With all the talk of the lack of intensity, hustling on defense, basic baketball IQ etc-Does anyone else think that this team could use Cavataio this year? He might have been in a bit over his head talent wise in the Big East, but who on this team isnt? At least Cav had a nose for the ball and never took a play off.

Sorry to say, he wouldn't have helped.  Great story at the time and we all hoped he would have made it but he didn't have the talent to contribute much.

Agreed.  Cav might be a nice player for Holy Cross --- but who would he have been taking time from? DJ? Paris? No thanks.  Wouldn't have helped.

Who coming off the bench is that much better than Cav? They could use his spark

cav was a scorer who wasn't given the opportunity to develop.

he wouldn't have helped because norm is clueless with that kind of talent.

If he was here it would be the same old story saying he isn't a big east player, why is he on scholarship, and norm is a bad recruiter

now that he is gone he is a player that was never developed by norm.

Sorry I can't buy into this one. Its best for both St. John's and Mike Cavataio that he transferred.

how many minutes did he earn on a team that couldn't shoot last year?
He stunk. Not a big east player.

Cav only played in the last few games because he showed heart and the season was over. If we were going to play in the BET he would not of even got PT

I liked Cav he was always hustling and you can't teach that.  I think Cav could have gone 2 ways.  He could have turned into Ricky Torres or Andy Rautins (Cuse).  Problem is he didnt get the reps to develop and likely wouldnt have gotten the necessary reps this year either.  Good luck to Cav hopefully he makes the best of it at HC.

Maybe Norm thought Landesberg would follow Boothe and Cav to St Johns?

Kinda like when Tristan Smith was brought in thinking Jason Fraser would follow

Nope.  He was not a Big East player.  Would he have contributed against the weaker opponents during the non-conference schedule? Yes, but he would have had his head handed to him against Big East comp.

Andy Rautins was very good from day one. There just wasn't a spot for him to play regular minutes at first. If Cav was ready to play he would have seen some time.

with all due respect poison I played andy in highschool several times and he was not as good as he is now. He was very good but he improved a lot. Now did andy have more talent than cav I don't know I never played cav. I was just making comparisons of two guys with comporable stats and accomplishments in hs.
