the student section MSG SUCKS
« on: December 29, 2007, 01:12:21 AM »
ok i know this is gonna be started so i wanted to start it. people say fire norm but i really do not think he is the first person to get ride of. With aot of season ticket holders gettig mad with the point system i think students need to get as mad about the way they treat us. CA is somewhat decent but as MSG they split all of us into 4 sections and expect us to root for the team? And they say they do this so the opposing team can not get front row seats? well maybe you should move the season ticket holders down there. the buttom of MSG in my mind should be one side of students and one side of season ticket holders. And back to spliting us up. By doing this there is like 5 rows of students in each section. So what happens if some of the students try to stand and cheer? then the 20 rows behind us of paying fans tell us to sit because they paid money for this seats and want to enjoy it. in my 4th yr here the only year that was good at MSG was my 1st year. They bought section 11 and the tickets were free and all the students sat in that one section. This is a college sport team and the people in charge need to watch a game besides a stj home game and see how it is down. there is no reason why we cant pack a section. i am going to syracuse for the game and gonna be sad to see 26,000 fans cheering for their team and we cant even stand at our "home court" screw the garden use that money to buy a new campus arena no good bball has been played at the garden in years

I've said all for a long time now that  this program would be better of with a on campus 8500-10000 seat arena. The garden has lost its touch in regards to recruiting what kid wants to play in front of a 3/4 empty garden or play in front of a 3-1 ratio of uconn, syracuse, duke fans.  Play to a packed on campus facility and get a feel for the team and a true homecourt advantage.,

great post...it would be nice if someone woke up...and if people want to sit and watch the game...stay on your couch!!

When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

The student section didn't suck 20 years ago. The fans, not MSg arethe problem. If SJU didn't have the biggest pussy faitweather fans in the entire game, it would be a non issue.

Most of our problems can be attributed to how disgusting the alumni are.

why can't st john's buy a block of tickets and designate this as the student section? Even if its a small block like 50 seats it would be a vast improvement.

DJ did come here because of MSG.  I think syl going to VA had more to do with the coach def staying there/academics.

Honestly.  I think DJ is a poor man's Syl.  Syl can score better, syl's handle is better (dj's handles scare the crap outta me sometimes.), both rebound very well, syl's a better defender.  Both aren't going to be stars, but very important role players.  I feel Syl's upside is a lesser/pg verison of Jeff Green.

obviously i'd take syl over dj.  but i like dj

well obviously. i just said syl's better then dj right now, and syl's a local kid so it hurts that much more.  i think syl's choice had more to do with the school itself/coach then MSG and the faculties though.

Hard to be positive about what's going down with St. John's, but I understand.  Lots of hate out here on the message boards, and it's hard to love your team in the face of that.

But the Providence msg boards are filled with hate too, and Kentucky message boards include some of the angriest members of the human race.  Seriously.  The only reason Syracuse fans aren't vocal complainers is because they have one of the best college basketball programs in the country.  If they were stinking up the place and not getting recruits you would hear some Kentucky-styled complaining-- loud, frequent, reactionary, vitriolic, near-homicidal words.

Seeing b-ball games in the Orange Dome with student seats, though, leaves you far from the action.  Weird that schools don't put their rowdies/ young students in some visible place near the front.

They can't afford it.

we're paying for the seats still instead of scattering our tickets just make sure they're in a designated area
