Kennedy/Horne

Have combined for 27 of the 30 points scored at the half for SJU. It is clear that both are better basketball players than Mase jr and it is a shame one of them will lose his starting spot next year to the off balance jumper king!

Why? Why does Mase Jr. have to start next season, like you said,it's obvious both of them are better then him. It's all our bad coach, isnt it?

I don't think it is clear that they are both better than Mase.  It is only clear to me that they are by far our best three players.

I think having two guys to help share the scoring burden will help him immensely and free him up to be far more dangerous as an athlete than he could ever be as a producer.

Those three will each have to get around 30 minutes per game and that means that they will have to go through spurts with all three on the court together.

I am really praying for Lance at this point.

Bet?
If Mase doesn't start next year I won't post one negative thing about Norm all year on any board.
If Mase starts and Horne or Kennedy do not you have to change your screen name to some sort of anti Norm nickname. We can have a poll or something and have jungle posters pick it for u.

First off I hope u are feeling better!

As for Horne and Kennedy in addition to having basically the same scoring average as Mase had the last 2 years, their overall games are much better and they are just better basketball players! IMO Mase was a better basketball player with more potential his frosh season. With the role of go to guy he became selfish and his overall game degressed! At this point he would be best used as a scorer off the bench with a much shorter leash!

In a rare allegiance, I agree 100 percent w marillac. Mase had the burden of being the go to guy before. I think he was TOLD to be selfish. Now norm won't feel the need to give mase free reign and just naturally the team and his teammates won't let him. Let's not forget, mase is a good passer when he tried to be and had games of 5+ assists. I think sitting this year might immensely improve his pro chances if he scores 15 a game while getting boards and assists. If we get lance, we got a chance to dance!

Here's a thing about Mase, though - I'm not sure he knows what a good shot is, because he's had to create.  IF Lance comes, I think that might actually help Mase - Lance will take up so many possessions that Mase won't have time to create for himself.  Which might make him a better player.  Mase is a decent passer.  His rebounding, though... he's no DJ.

Dave, why do you think Mason would come off the bench?  Is that with or without Lance?

Feeling much better.  I have three facial fractures on the left side of my face.  There was a chance I could have lost the vision in my left eye, but it is coming back slowly.  I have surgery next week to reset the bones.

Dave...I agree with you.  I really think Mase comes off the bench next year.  He'll still get his minutes, but I think that could be the perfect role for him.

I think Mason sees minutes but I think it comes off the bench. Almost like Tom Brady taking over for Drew Bledsoe after injury and following season. It's just the better move for the team its not saying Mason isn't valuable but the team is better moving forward with Horne and Kennedy at the 2/3.

Now I believe this to be true whether Lance comes or doesn't come. I have to get a chance to talk to coach in the offseason and see what his plans are for Mason. I truly think he should bulk up and play some minutes at the 4 and we can run pretty fast. Against certain teams running plays for Mason in the post where he can be just a tall, much faster and athletic, as other 4's it would be pretty exciting to see him get some turn around J's. I think this is also a good move because his handle isn't spectacular.

Also if Lance comes I think he plays the PG and Boothe goes to the bench.

Ouch. Car accident, fight, or did you get too close to Sean Evans' elbows?

Glad you are feeling better.
