I think adding Lance puts us at the top of group B at worst.  I think the Big East will get six teams in next year.

i wouldn't be surprised to see blair stay.  if he does they should be a NCAA team.  esp with them bringing in a mcdonalds all american big man along with another very good player in lamar patterson from st benedict's...

GTOWN in group C.

Only if they lose either Summers or Monroe to the draft.  If they bring back Summers, Wright, and Monroe they will be alot better.

You are the only joke I've seen on this board.  Seriously, pick another board to troll.  You offer nothing.

This is the Big East.  Freshmen not named Carmelo Anthony rarely take a team from one level to another.  What freshman did that this year?  None.

Marillac - I like how you spell berth correctly, btw (I effin hate it when people write "birth.").

Disagree about Pitt.  They have a little talent coming in and they have a program - guys fill in the spaces left.  They'll be in the NCAAs, with or without Blair, and with or without Jamie Dixon (AZ might just come calling).

wow that was such an ignorant statement....go to scout.com and look up alex oriakhi and jamal coombs next year for Uconn. those two single handedly won the national prep tournament this year against some of the best competetion in America, including Omari lawrence. saying freshmen cant take a team to another level is just plain ignorant...do your research...

Please don't discourage people to post. You can disagree with them but don't tell them to take a hike. Leave that to me.

I don't think he was giving a preview but more of an overview. Freshman aren't guarentees and all he was doing was letting people know how rosters were being shaken up. I thought his assessment of teams moving up and down were fair. Again this is his opinion, yours might be different. Here we are accepting of others opinions. Care to share your analysis on the big east next year?

We are still in group C we didn't pick up a PG or a player with any kind of post moves. When we play top post players they out muscle our front line. The bigest non change is the coach we can't run our sets.  I say we finish at 11 next year, 9th at best if Lance comes.

One question, only because I would add it to my recap if I knew, but who's this Fisher you have coming to Seton Hall.  Honestly don't recall that one nor have I seen anything in my "exhaustive" research.

How can two players single-handedly do anything?  You single-handedly make yourself look like an idiot, but two people can't SINGLE-handedly do anything.

What did you wake up today, have courage for breakfast, and decide you were going to take on the entire basketball world?

I didn't say freshman "can't" take a team to another level.  I said it is rare and it really didn't happen this past year.  Sure, there were some freshman that contribute well like a Kemba Walker or Samuels, but their teams would have been great without them as well.

I offered a brief overview of the Big East for next year.  The point of the thread was to show some hope for us.  We SHOULD jump over 4-5 teams right off the bat.  I don't know if we will, but we SHOULD.

I am always weary, like Peter pointed out, of a PROGRAM like Pitt.  They have some good young players returning, they have a terrific coach, and they just win.  Dixon doesn't need the same talent or experience returning to beat a team coached by Roberts.

Bottomline, things are very much in STJ's favor for next year.  A lot of the league will be reloading and rebuilding and we will have 10 juniors and fifth year senior.  Development will be in our favor.

development might be in our favor, but my first thought is that our losses will be by single digits instead of double digits.  Then again, a lot of teams send their major contributors out the door... so maybe some positivity is in order.  hard to see right now, though.

For the sHort term it does look better.  For some reason I keep looking long term.  An optimistic view over the next two years projects us prob between 6-10 range of BE teams.  Nothing special but an improvement.  My problem is then in two years 9 guys graduate and we are left with OMari, Quincy, Ty, Wait and a 2010 class that hopefully includes at least a Big East point guard.  THe point is we are gonna go through the same song and dance as far as rebuilding goes.

WHen I look at the Big East this is what i see....

Louisville - Pitino
Uconn - Calhoun
Pitt - Dixon
Cuse - Jimmy B
Nova - JW
West Va -Huggins
Georgetown - JT III (being generous but did recruit the top player last year and has been to a final 4)

These are all schools that have shown the ability to consistently get big time talent and coach them up.  Unfortunately, we dont have that luxury and will never compete with these 6-7 schools on a consistent basis.  It's what happened to Uconn 3-4 years ago.  Look at them since.  We havent shown that we can even be competitive yet in 5 years, let alone be elite and rebuild in 1 year.

Im not delusional and saying we should be on par with these teams, Im just giving what i view as our current and future position in this conference.

Amazingly with 7 guys in that class...Norm adds Wait and a JUCO to the mix to make it 9. :'(
