Cinderella team?
« on: March 17, 2009, 03:51:57 PM »
Im having all sorts of problems filling out my brackets. Everytime I do, my Sweet 16 teams are all big time teams. I hate that, I hate having no Cinderella or Dark horse team going thru til at least the Sweet 16. Right now Im looking at Western Kentucky beating Illinois than Gonzaga.
This years 1st round games are tougher than ever IMO, which makes the 2nd round games impossible. Gotta love it. Who are youre Cinderella picks?

Im havin the same problems Baldi.  I'm not havin true cinderellas...I have West Virginia and Arizona State each going to the Elite 8 as 6 seeds but that's about it.

The one "Cindy" I'm considering for S16 is Northern Iowa over Purdue and Washington.  I could also see USC or BC beating Michigan State 2nd round - but again, not "true" cinderellas.

I have the same problem too.  Then I realized there really isn't too many cinderellas.  This committee picked Zona and Wisky, isntead of smaller conference teams like SDSU, Creighton, or St Mary's.

Don't worry, everyone's brackets will probably have no sleepers.  I don't have the stones to take it...but watch out for North Dakota St over Kansas!

a agree on western kentucky having a shot to win a couple of games like they did last year, and im also not impressed with Michigan st i think either of those two teams could knock them off

Think Patty Mills was pissed not making the NCAA's. He went off and dropped 27 on Taylor Rochestie of Washington St.

Western Kentucky was put into our minds by the talking heads last Sunday night. Have any of you watched a game? Can you name their starting 5 or at least leading scorer and rebounder?

The power of suggestion is all I am saying!!!

Along those lines: Izzo's boys can ball, that's all I'm gonna say.

How pissed was Sean Evans dropping 25 and 11 boards on Richmond!
He wanted to dance!

They average 21 turnovers per game = PRIME upset candidate.

American University, led by St. Anthony's Derrick Mercer, is miraculously leading Jay Wright and the Main Line Wildcats, who opened as 17 point favorites, by ten points at the half.

I go to Law School at American and I've seen them play a few times, including the semis and finals of the Patriot League tournament - they are a legitimately good team. A lot of people down here thought they would be a 13 seed or even possibly a 12 seed because of their tournament experience last year, the fact that they returned all their starters, and that they have the second longest win streak in the country. Garrison Carr is one of the best shooters I've ever seen, and I grew up watching a Big East that had guys like Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton, Troy Murphy, etc. If Carr was 3 inches taller, he'd be able to star in the Big East. Heck, even as is he'd probably be the best player on St. John's right now.

I didn't pick AU to beat Nova b/c a) I didn't think Nova would be dumb enough to try to win a shootout considering how much they could dominate down low, and b) I figured if AU loses, I might as well increase my odds of winning some money. I hope they can hold onto this lead now.

Villanova is getting a very friendly whistle.
It was 16-0 in FTs with two minutes left in the second half.

Between the second-half FTs and literally playing in Philadelphia, it will give room for the fringe college basketball fans that enjoy conspiracies.

You got that right.  They let Villanova get physical but were calling touch fouls on American.

Refs tried to give that game to Illinois last night, Bruce Weber was in the way though.
