Yes, this team needs shotmakers, but they also need players who are a plus on the turnover front. How is Lance's defense - solid with work? Opportunistic?
I thought Mason, in the Boston College and LIU games, seemed a little more in control playing defense - like he was trying to stay with his man rather than go for steals and get out of position. With his length and some experience, maybe he'll be a little better on D than he has been; and if he's not dominating the ball (and I think he's very willing to share), he can be a better player. And if DJ Kennedy doesn't get the idea to try and take shots all the time - he was good at times, and his aggressiveness was necessary, but he was inconsistent.
But how will Burrell play into this?
Honestly, if they can play defense, stop giving the other teams easy shots, and settle into (complementary) roles, this team could win games. They'll still be ugly, but... they could make a move in the standings.
