Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

He didn't mention Mase when talking about next year's draft prospects.

It's a video.  As I remember it, they talk a little about Blake Griffin, then about the Big East players who will be taken first round.

Norm said Thabeet is talented and needs to gain a little more strength; likened him to Mutumbo, and how Dikembe needed to gain weight.

He likes Jonny Flynn; "could be a better Jameer Nelson."

Terrence Williams he says can be a great role guy; and Earl Clark is a face-up player, needs to get stronger, "great upside."

On DeJuan Blair and Sam Young, Norm thinks DeJuan will be a good NBA player because he's a rebounding specialist. Sam can score better than the Louisville guys.

Also: thinks Dante Cunningham will be a great energy guy, and DeJuan Summers has a great skill set.  When asked about next year's draft, he mentions Samardo Samuels and Harangody.

Amazing how this worked out so well, considering he doesn't have the slightest inkling of what it takes to prepare someone for the NBA.

To be fair, he did work with Bill Self, who prepared some NBA'ers.  Mediocre ones, but NBA'ers nonetheless.

Actually looking it up... maybe it's just Wayne Simien.  And Luther Head at Illinois, and Brian Cook.

What about Deron Williams?

Norm was at St. John's when Deron was drafted, and was at Kansas the year before.  How long did Deron stay in school?  I think they would have overlapped in 02-03, I suppose. Can't give Norm credit for his development.

I think Sam Young is very underrated. He reminds me a lot of Michael Finley type player and I'm surprised he fell that far.

Also I think Blair is going to do very well in San Antonio. He gets to play along side Tim Duncan and is probably in one of the best NBA franchises under Coach Pop who always gets the most out of his role players.

San An was the best place for Blair to go.  They really need him too.

Parker-Manu-Jefferson-Blair-Duncan....wow.  Lookout LA.
