After his freshman season, I thought this kid was going to be a stud in the Big East.

Still can't believe he was kicked out for smoking pot.
That said, the Globetrotters are perfect for a stoner.

He is still to this day, the only college player I've ever seen
put together a 4 point play to tie a game in regulation.

No shame in being a Globetrotter.

I'd kill for a player as talented as Willie Shaw, and as hungry and Cedric Jackson.

I'm willing to bet Willie would get pretty hungry after smoking some j's

Those numbers are nice to look at but Hatten Thornton Barkley and Artest's numbers were achieved in two years.  And if there was a 3 pt line during Chris' time even Slick Willie would be running a very distant second.  And don't forget (which you can't if you've been on BEB the past week) Avery Patterson had 72 threes his one year at STJ.

One thing I respect about Yankee fans is their disregard for statistics.

I think that logic applies here.

It isn't about how many threes you hit. It's who you hit them against, And at what point in the game?

We all know the best shooter we've had over the last 10 years is Bootsy.

Well when I was putting together some of these top 10 lists for the site I said to myself damn this is depressing. It was cool to see some of the early players show up on the list multiple times and I think if I remember correctly I think Mullin appeared the most (10 or 11 times I think).

Geno was on the list in a few places as well.

Since I started following SJU when I was a little kid during Mullin's frosh year, they really have never had a pure shooter outside of Mullin! Ron Rowan and maybe Bootsy Thornton(more of a streaky shooter) were probably the only thing close after Mullin. This is one of the reasons I liked Larry Wright so much!

I liked Derek Brown, he was my original Larry Wright. Too bad he got hurt!
During the Berry/Mullin years there was a player Steve Shurina who NEVER missed a jumper during warmups! He had a really nice jumper, but he would never shoot whenever Louie would put him in the game.

I liked Derek as well.   Remember Jon Hempel?   didn't he have a nice J? Matt Brust made himself a good shooter as well by his senior year.   they don't make them(players) like Matty anymore.   Too bad.

I think Hempel had a big NCAA 1st round game during the Berry year. 6-7 or something like that? Mark Jackson shot well his senior year and Boo Harvey and Malik Sealy could shoot, but we have not had many pure shooters since I started following the team.

Boo had as clutch a J as they come.
Y'all ask who I want to take the last shot wit the game on the line, and its Boo, even over Mullin.

And Malik was straight up killer on them baselines.
Brother was money from 18 feet in.

Mullin missed a bunch of clutch shots, including a couple of big free throws if my memory is correct. Ron Rowan hit the most clutch shot in my memory. Boo's senior year he was awesome!

Thing wit Malik is he woulda shot a better percent had he a second option when he was a junior and senior.

After Jayson and Boo leave, Malik was surrounded only by role players.

Chucky never developed like evryone thought he do.

J. Buchanan was puttin aside his scorin when he transformin hisself from SG to point.

Slow Mo Mint was a bulldog but he aint ever a heavy scorer.

Rob W got hisself banged up in the senior year.

Derek Brown was only a frosh when Malik was a senior.

And David Cain was still on the bench.

So the thing is Malik carry those teams by hisself. Brother got hisself tired and them some. Believe if they was a second option, he wouldnt had to force things like he do back in teh day.

Anways, I know he's shinin wit the Almighty. We love you brother and hope to rejoin you in His good grace. Remember you to the day I die.
