Count us as one of the people who feel 6-6 junior guard D.J. Kennedy, who scored 16 points during St. John's 83-70 victory over LIU last night at Carnesecca, could be a future NBA player.

This Red Storm team is definitely improved and has the ability to put multiple players in double figures during any Big East game.  Among the new players, we really like guard Dwight Hardy, a deep shooter who finished with 14 points; and 6-8 Justin Brownlee, who had 12.

Guard Jaytornah Wisseh put on a show for Jim Ferry's NEC Blackbirds, scoring 28 points and contributing 4 rebounds and 4 assists in the loss.

Seton Hall is generally considered the most promising of the Big East teams in the Metro area, but the Pirates had to fight for their lives in their home opener, needed a one-handed, 28-footer at the buzzer from senior guard Nunu Harvey to outlasted St. Peter's, 53-51, at the Pru.

St. Peter's guard Wesley Jenkins had given the Peacocks a 51-50 lead on a spinning jumper with 3.6 seconds left before Harvey's heroics.

I'm a little confused as to how Weiss knows this "Red Storm team is definitely improved."  Is he basing it on a win over LIU?  Especially when the team was up 7 points in crunch time?

Well when he said, "we really like Dwight Hardy" who is we? The Daily News? I didn't notice Weiss at the game on Friday so perhaps he didn't write this or got 2nd hand information.

To me it doesn't matter what he wrote. I was just curious as to what he was talking about. It just seems like lately Weiss doesn't do any of his own reporting anymore. I did seem him at the Rumble in the Bronx this summer though.
