I’m a SJU Alum (‘04 - Sports Management) and HUGE fan…In fact, my two brothers are SJU Alums and my sister in I was wondering if St. John’s has a watch-zone for Men’s Basketball in Manhattan…
If not, I’ll like to suggest Still (on 17th Street & 3rd Avenue). I do have a bias because I bartend there part-time and another of our bartenders is also a SJU alum. I’ve already had conversations with management and they would love to host the games. The bar/restaurant has 4 large flat-screen TVs behind the bar, a giant projection screen on an adjacent wall and great specials. They host already host a NFL team’s games and a college football team’s games, so they are an appropriate sports venue… I didn’t mention those teams’ names to prove my intention is to find out if a SJU watch-zone already exists and if not to propose a great option.
I hope that nobody perceives this as SPAM... I really am just a huge fan and I think it would be a great idea to have a place where SJU alum and fans can get together to root the Johnnies on in Manhattan… it really will boost the game watching experience.
My notes on tomorrows game for further proof…
I’ll base more of this game on what I saw against Duke… I thought the story was about turnovers and rebounds, but I thought the guys showed a lot of hustle, resiliency, great athleticism and they made some big shots down the stretch. Georgia is a smaller team so as long as they limit their turnover and convert on Georgia’s turnovers then they should win. I like the addition of Brownlee, Hardy and Lawrence. I’d be curious to see more of Malik Stith, but regardless I love our depth for the first time in a long time. The returning guys are really talented (I’ve even been critical of Boothe before, but I like his play against Duke)… if Thomas and Mason can stay healthy and elevate their game we’ll be a Big East title contender.
Go Johnnies!
