SJU announces that Mase will be out an additional 3 weeks.

As I said in my previous post: SJU under-announces each injury EVERY time.

Maybe he can get a 6th year?

I feel bad for Mase. I really believe we'd benefit from having him on the court too. We should all root for his recovery. Mase has been an exemplary representative for St. John's in dark ages. We should all show him a little love.

DAMMIT (as Jack Bauer would say).

I'm now a little worried about the conference season.  I think people are talking NCAAs and about DJ, but Mase would help shore up some of the obvious and exploitable weaknesses - an offense that can grind to a halt in a slowdown game against good defense (or in a fast game against bothersome D like Marquette) and more length on the wings to get in the way of passes and make traps more effective.

Boothe and Horne need to step their games up, they've regressed a bit.  And Omari needs to get better.  This team needs more weapons, I was hoping Mase would be the weapon that actually gets this team close to the NCAAs.  Not that we all wouldn't be sweating come selection Sunday, but now we'll be crossing our friends' fingers as well.

edit I should add that I say the above because I imagine the team could need a difference maker to get a win against Georgetown (less likely) or Cincy (very likely) and Louisville (also likely, they'll get better).  And if Burrell is out longer than they say as well... we have depth problems.  Even if you don't think Big east front lines are imposing, there is a bit of height/ girth/ talent on every team.

So i'm not misunderstood in my previous post.  I do feel bad for Mase and am rooting for his recovery. Its just frustrating , as a fan, to deal with this every year.  I'm sure its a lot worse for him.  We've been down this road before.  lets just assume that he's not gonna be a factor again this year.  There is zero evidence to assume anything else.

Do the Mets and St.John's share team doctors?
