Brownlee from 3
« on: December 15, 2009, 02:43:53 PM »
0-3
1-2
1-3
1-3
0-0
1-2
0-2
0-1
0-3

Overall 3-19 for 21%

Inside the Arc 29-48 for 60%

I'm glad he's capable of making the 3 and I don't mind him hoisting it from time to time if he's wide open to stretch the defense but him shooting 21% isn't helping. Also if he's playing the 4 that leaves us with maybe one big man down low to recoup the missed shot.

Do you mind him taking 2 attempts per game?

Hardy needs to be given a chance to find a groove.
Seeing Horne and Brownlie settle for the three makes me think they could be encouraged to take it inside, and draw the defense. Work the ball around better.

Against Fordham we could be careless about who took what.
I don't recall seeing Stith find an open man all game. And he played a lot of minutes.

When we are at full strength, this will become an even bigger issue.
We're scoring all that much, but we seem to have a kit of guys who need to shoot it.

I do not mind brownlee shot an average of 2 3's per game.

I really agree that our big man need to set screens for Hardy. Hardy should shoot at least 4 3's agame.

SBU   12/2/09     1   4
Duke   12/4/09     1   5
Georgia   12/9/09     2   5

We'll need Hardy to snap out of it this Sunday,
and we'll need Brownlee in the paint mixing it up.

I can't remember the last time we played the harder game in round one.

Brownlee has had some crazy baskets, he has a nose for the ball and seems to be in the right place at the right time. Great addition

I'd like to see Hardy get 6-7 good shots from three per game.  I'd also like to see a called play for him to penetrate every so often.

I would like to see Norm Roberts run 6 -7 solid sets for the entire team during a game.. . ha ha ha ha

hardy may get his shots, but they are unassisted pullups when the offense breaks down. set something up for the guy, especially when its a stith, hardy, omari, brownlee, coker lineup like we had in a few games now.

So if you're the coach do you encourage your player so he has confidence to take these type of shots? Or do you discourage these shots because they are low percentage? How do you get across both?

I would encourage Hardy to keep shooting the 3.  He has an excellent stroke.  Brownlee can be so effective inside.  I would get him to stay closer to the basket.  Paris needs to take it when available but not if he has the opportunity to drive to the basket or work it closer to the basket.

Brownlee needs to lose his outside shooting privileges.  Right now an attempt from three by him is pretty much a turnover.

He's shooting in the teens more than 1/3 of the way through the season.  Pull the plug.

If we can cut down on Brownlee's and Evans' "I want to be a small forward" moments, we can save 8-9 possessions a game.

If our guards ever passed the ball into the post maybe our 4 & 5 guys would feel the need to take shots from the outside.

In the first half Brownlee pumped and drove on everything and fooled no one. 2nd half he started bombing from 3 and it worked. Did Norm tell him to stop then tell him in the 2nd half to let loose?

Brownlee had a 3 on 1 and turned it over in the first half.
I actually think he's better off at the 4 than anywhere else.

Hardy can finish, and his handle was fine last night.
He needs to be out there more. Horne should stop letting it fly.
It's killing us. Boothe should back up Hardy, and Horne should eventually spell Mason.

We need to prove that we deserve all of the praise that guys like Jay Bilas, Bill Raftery and Joe Lunardi have given us.

We need to destroy Providence. By like 25.

This thread is about him shooting from 3 not playing the 3  ;D
