Johnnies face big concerns [NY Post]

With an 80-44 glorified-scrimmage victory over winless Bryant University last night in Carnesecca Arena in the books, St. John's closes out its non-conference schedule with a 10-2 record and one glaring weakness:

What happens when the Red Storm faces another quality big man such as Cornell's Jeff Foote?

Foote, a legitimate 7-footer, busted up St. John's with 19 points and 11 rebounds in Monday night's championship game of the Madison Square Garden Holiday Festival. St. John's did not have 6-foot-8 forward Justin Burrell (ankle), and 6-foot-10 Dele Coker, the closest thing the Red Storm has to a center, got into early foul trouble. Power forward Sean Evans (6-foot-8) never found angles to the basket.

"For how fast my ankle is progressing, I thought I was going to play [yesterday]," Burrell said. "So I don't see why I wouldn't play against Georgetown. [But] I can't do my team any good coming back and not being able to play. I tried that at the Duke game and it didn't work out."

I sure hope he can play but high ankle sprains are very tricky and if he re-injures himself he could easily miss another month.

3 weeks is sufficent time for a sprained ankle. Burrell sprained his right ankle which is not his push off leg since he is a righty.

He just needs to stay away from people undercutting him.

He did not get undercut when he hurt his ankle.

Lets hope he found his energy during his time away. He needs to play all out all the time when he gets back.
