What was more predictable last night
« on: January 01, 2010, 02:04:03 PM »
The charge on the coast to coast by Evans (with three open players) or Brownlee forcing a three the possession after he finally made a three?

Norm, get a handle on your damn players.  Reign these guys in.

After Brownlee missed his 2nd three he made his third. It was one of those things you yelled "NO" on the release and "YES" when it went in.

Also I think we're all being pretty damn harsh on Sean. He is what he is..

Sure I think it was a bad bonehead play but it was one play. He got 9 and 9 and he had a lot of key put backs. He also had some damn good looking drives early in the first half when we were struggling offensively that he created off the dribble. Sean isn't the problem of this team.

Boothe taking fall away shots and getting smoked on defense was much more of a problem then a missed layup for a charge. (which we got back the next play and scored 2 off of a TO)

Brownlee's game was interesting... I didn't know he'd be credited with so many shot attempts - a lot of those came off of the offensive boards.  He showed signs of improvement in shot selection but I think he's going to be that guy.

Sean, however, has to stop thinking of going coast to coast... unless he's playing a less disciplined team.

But you know, Marillac, in his defense, did you see the 3 on 2 break they messed up, where Kennedy passed late (and Raftery mentioned it accurately)? I wouldn't expect to get the ball back if I gave it up on this team, necessarily.

The staff has to, HAS TO improve on the passing on the break, into the post, and get some movement in the halfcourt. So much individual play out there last night.  Maybe it was Georgetown... but I doubt it.

Boothe played well defensively IMO. There seems to be next to no communication from our bigs on screens.  What PG in the world could stay with Wright for 70 feet running through screen after screen with no communication?  To make things worse, our bigs play screens worse than any other team I've ever seen (offensively and defensively).  Half the time our guards have to dodge the bigs more than the screeners.

Hardy needs to be getting 30 mins a game.  DJ or Boothe needed to be handling the ball late and Hardy should have been freed up.

Norm, if you are going to pressure, then f*cking.  This half-assed 3/4 court pressure does nothing but create shots for teams.

Evans needs to get 10 mins next game to teach him a lesson.  The lesson is simple:  you help the team by cutting, hitting the boards, and being physical.  You kill the team when you try to be a SF.  Never dribble again, Sean Evans.

I don't know what game you were watching....Boothe got smoked! I try to defend Boothe any chance I get but I can't here. He's played bad for a majority this season (and career) and last night he played very poorly. He didn't bring anything to the table...no offense, no distribution, and no defense. If Boothe wants to stay on the floor he needs to bring at least 2 of the 3.

Anybody that thinks Boothe played poorly on D last night either was not watching closely or is just over-simplifying.

His play on offense was terrible, but his defense was not at all.

I watched the game last night and again today. He got smoked on backdoors with no screens just pure simple v-cuts. It's as clear as day.

Rewatch the game. Boothe got beat like a rug in one-on-one situations.  The bigs could have helped more, but Wright had him like it was the playground.  Problems with the screens? Yeah, especially since it seemed to the announcers that the defenders were supposed to go over top of the screens, right? But Boothe got worked.

I am officially changing my stance on boothe. Keep him off the court unless we are facing full court pressure. He provides no offense and is a below avg defender. I thought early he would help things runs smoothly, but he just brings nothing to the table. I thought the team played well with burrell brownlee dj horne and hardy. Also was good to see a tightend rotation.

I also thought Boothe and Evans got gipped early on with foul calls which I thought were good defense.

On the other end of the ball I saw Monroe do whatever he wanted yet no calls.

Your point?

Wright scored 21 pts throughout the game on three defender--including Paris Horne.

It wasn't like scored all his points on Boothe during the 16 mins Boothe was in.

Boothe did not play poorly defensively, and I realize that I am probably the only person on this board that would write that.  I don't care.  The comment stands.

I know that right after Hardy's lead-taking three at the 9:31 mark, Wright converted a three point play with Boothe on the bench.  Add in the Ft's (he made 5-5) and the three pointers he made (2) and you have a total of 12/21 he didn't score on Boothe on "backdoors with no screens."

In the first half, he also took Stith/Hardy a few times as well.  Wright also scored towards the end with Boothe not even sniffing the court.

Yes he did he smoked Boothe on a backdoor with no screens. I don't want to have to watch the game again to shadow how many points Wright had on Boothe to make a point.

Come on now, Kid!  Think he'll finally admit he'd rather have Wright than Boothe?  He wasn't willing to admit it before the season started.  Man up man, before you lose any remaining credibility. ;)

I believe Wright had 16 points in the first half, if I'm correct.  I could be wrong, but I think that is the case.

Quite frankly, he wasn't much of a factor in the 2nd half.

Back to the title thread....  Evans doing his "Magic Johnson/Penny Hardaway" impersonation like he does every, single game.  Geez!

I'd curse his arse out (like what should've taken place the first time he EVER did it) like the dickens for putting the ball on the floor for more than two bounces (unless, it was a breakaway dunk).

Stop dribbling the ball, Sean!

I think Wright scored like 12 of their first 16...at least it seemed that way.  Its all Baldi's fault!

F Chris Wright, Hoyas are an NIT team and if they do squeeze into the NCAA they are 1st round out. I only caught a few minutes of the game and I still think we arter better than them and believe it or not, I think we have a better coach
