Is the Uconn game our season?
« on: January 18, 2010, 02:52:50 PM »
We lost a few that we really needed to win:  Cornell and Providence.  We missed grabbing a winnable road W against Louisville and G'town.

Is the Uconn game our season?  One would have to think that the loser of this game is all but done.  Winning a road game that I grouped in with Louisville/Gtown as one that we probably have to grab to dance, might save a season I thought was lost.

Obviously, this is a very tough spot.  We suck on the road.  We will surely go five minutes at some point with four points or less and Dyson could go off for eight points and three to four steals at any given time.  The good news is that Calhoun is reluctant to go zone and Mase and JB1 are one game healthier.

Thoughts?

Since we've lost couple now that we were not supposed to lose, we need to win a couple than we are not expected to win just to sniff the bubble.

Losing to Cornell and Providence at home means we need to win on the road, and I'm not talking at Depaul. Uconn is weaker than usual.

It's now or never.

We have to hope our guys are ready, and that hole in the Death Star is wide enough for us.

we need to make up for the prov loss. the loss to cornell was made up with this sweep in philly. as hard as it may seem we need to win 2 out of the next 3 to enter into ncaa contention. at least 1 out of the next 3 is a must. i believe we can take uconn and pitt.

this is the hump norm and company must get over. this team is barely meeting expectations (-1 loss). lets get it done.

I like how everyone has jumped off the UConn bandwagon saying they are a weak team now. They are a very good team which has a tendency not to show up sometimes.

They are talented, but their b-ball IQ is as low as I've ever seen.  Robinson is a nice person.  Dyson plays 100 MPH, but is capable of exploding at any point.  Kemba would fair much better with a smarter/better team.

One huge uconn advantage:  Hall of fame Coach vs. well, you know.   I'd be less shocked if the Jets beat Indy than STJ beats uconn on road.   Maybe i'm wrong.  Can PAris stop Dyson?  Booth stop Walker?

So far I think this is our least winnable road game so far this season and we dropped our first two. That doesn't mean I don't think we're capable of winning but its certainly uphill. Kemba is who I'm most worried about as well as UConn's ability to crash the offensive boards. They are on a 3 game skid so they should be coming out with fire but then again they might just keep sucking...who knows?

I say Uconn & Pitt we win. So much for one game at a time :D

I had exactly the same thought. From your keyboard to God's ear.

I can't see them winning the Marquette or Notre Dame game.  And I have a hard time believing that a team that can't win on the road is going to beat Rutgers, USF, and DePaul away from NY.  I know all 3 of those teams are horrible, but the team has made a habit of not showing up in those type of games.

Its too bad they are coming off a loss to Michigan.  Was hoping they overlooked us because of the looming Texas game but now its less likely.

This would go along way to make up for the Providence loss.

We need to somehow win one of these next 3 and it's not going to be easy.  We'll be double digit dogs in CT and PA and we'll be a fairly sizeable home dog against Nova as well. If I had my druthers I'd like to win the first one.

If we can do that then the game at the RAC will be a must win.

You have to beat the bad teams, or there will be no one left to finish ahead of outside of Depaul and Rutgers. USF isn't great, but they are dangerous for a team like us. At 2-3, we're playing another 2-3 team. We gotta win.

Uconn has owned us. If this team deserves to dance, they need to end this.

I saw that.  Hope its nothing serious. Unfortunately for us, George blaney has forgotten more about basketball than the 4 nitwits on our sideline will ever know.

We must stop the transition game and we must rebound.  If we don't adjust our defense and stop over-pursuing on ball screens 30 feet from the basket, we will get beat.  We can pack it in and make them beat us from 15+ feet out.  This is our best chance to beat them, even on the road.  UConn's bad habits on the floor have built up over the last 3 years or so, and now they're being exposed big time.
