The Connecticut bench looked very different last night without Hall of Fame coach Jim Calhoun stalking the sidelines. However, the result of the Huskies' Big East game against St. John's looked very, very familiar.
UConn played a powerful second half and pulled away from the Red Storm for a 75-59 victory before 14,213 at the XL Center. The Huskies snapped a three-game losing streak by posting their ninth straight victory over St. John's. The Johnnies last beat them on Feb. 9, 2002.
"The most important thing was to end the losing streak," said Jerome Dyson, who led UConn with 21 points and five assists. "That's the one thing Coach would appreciate. We played the type of game he'd have wanted us to play."
