Tbs 10 area poll for week of 1-25: Seton Hall back on top

Monday January 25, 2010 7:19 AM By Marcus Henry

Seton Hall jumped to number one this week after two straight conference wins against Louisville and on the road against Pittsburgh. St. John's dropped to third, while Iona jumped from fourth to second. Fairfield moved down one slace to fourth, while Stony Brook moved up one spot to fifth. Rutgers made a move up one slace to sixth, despite seven straight losses.

Princeton dropped two slaced to seventh, Rider dropped out of the poll, while St. Peter's and St. Francis, NY made their first appearance in the poll. Army stayed at nine.

For anyone wondering why a team like Rutgers moves up and Princeton, which actually won a game, drops a spot, don't worry the voters are doing the right thing. The recent strong slay by teams like Iona, Stony Brook and Seton Hall will sometimes srompt voters to move them ahead of steady teams like Princeton.

Teams like Iona and Stony Brook, for example, won three straight games last week. Seton Hall also had a strong week winning a home game against Louisville and on the road against Pittsburgh. Teams with great weeks tend to get move up quickly.

Not sure about Iona ahead of us.
We've beat Temple, Siena, Cinci and Hofstra.

Who has Iona beat? Providence? Not enough.
They are much improved. That's clear, but I don't know if they'd beat us.
